i should be sleeping because i have class in the morning, but the reason i stay up so late is this: i have no willpower

basically i have to do my readings for the next day (or at least enough to allow me to finish them sometime during the day the next day) or i'll be hopelessly boned. but since i have no willpower, i usually sit here, procrastinating, until it's 1 am and i'm still posting on a message board and i still haven't started my reading but i can't keep my eyes open (because i'm tired from not getting enough sleep)

it's really a pretty nasty habit that i'm going to need to get rid of but i've had it for so long

ok then. everyone else, don't bother reading this post.

i took notes during class on my laptop. most people don't. if you handwrite notes, immediately after class spend 3 minutes going over the notes you just wrote, and do that for every class during the day. if you type them, go over all the notes at the end of the day and fix your typos. regardless of whether they're typed or written, clear up anything that may be ambiguous later on, like pronouns, etc.

at the end of the week, spend about 30 minutes going over the week's worth of notes. at the end of the month, spend 2 hours going over the whole month's worth of notes.

at the end of the semester, you won't have to study as hard because you have reinforced the information in your head so many times, it's easier to remember for your finals.

i didn't do this my first semester (i was also commuting daily, for a total of 4 hours spent driving) and i didn't do well. i started this the next semester and my gpa went up a full .75, and i was on the honor roll for every semester (except the first) and graduated with honors. i didn't even study for the bar except when i freaked out during the last two weeks, and at that point, i was all "well, i can't do it in 2 weeks, i might as well stop and just study properly for the next bar exam" but to my surprise, i passed without a problem.

pretty clever, thanks. yeah i bought a laptop specifically for law school, i definitely don't regret it. probably about 80% of the class has them too. i thought all the simultaneous tapping of the keys would be annoying, but it's not. it's actually kind of helpful. you can gauge how important the thing that the professor said was by how much tapping you hear afterwards.

I usually don't post later at night because I'm doing homework and don't really have time to do much more than read what's going on. Sometimes I'll post something, but usually it's really short. Not that I really am into writing novels on here or anything, but y'know.
