i know it sounds really geeky but i seriously think nintendo are onto a winner with this whole wii "opening up games to people who don't normally, uh, play em" inclusive strategy. i mean, speaking personally i love cutesy nintendo games, zelda, animal crossing, monkey island (edit: YES i know that's not nintendo, just including!), other things. zelda has the right amount of fighting + puzzles. but a straight-up shoot-em-up? previously i would have said a flat-out "NO!" to that.

but now, with those controls and that design? fuck yes i am buying it and i look forward to getting painfully throttled online, perhaps, by you! :cool: (and many others)

I think there's going to be a lock on system but it should be a special move type of thing. Like reversing time in the Prince of Persia series. I doubt you'll be able to do online play with real people though. That would seriously rule. I'm hoping they incorporate it into the new Metroid game though.

Nintendo absolutely needs to get the online gameplay thing down in order to survive or else it'll have a similar life of the Gamecube; a lot of potential marred by no online play and lack of 3rd party publishers 2 years down the road.

supposedly only nintendo games will have online play until about march of next year as they want to insure the third parties put out decent games first and not just hackneyed "online" games.

i'm getting a Wii for the g/f's kid, and for that matter, myself. personally I am more excited to play Zelda and Mario Kart

I'm super excited about the Sonic the Hedgehog game coming for the Wii too. Supposedly it's back to basics where the Wiimote is used to dodge obstacles but that Sonic is just running on rails at breakneck speed.

the gimmick looks cool (and i loved the sort of clint eastwood multi-shot thing), but the game itself looks like a pretty bland FPS to be honest. a few new gimmicks but nothing to write home about (except maybe the sword fighting, that DOES look pretty damn cool)
