Well, it's coming soon....
I just got the Season 2 DVD set and have been watching it (now on Episode 8).
It's really kinda cool to rewatch the whole show and catch a bunch of stuff I missed on the first run through...
Anyhow, let's begin the speculation for Season 3 :
What role will Desmond play (assuming he's not dead)?
Are Michael and Walt coming back to the island?
In flashbacks, are we going to see Shannon, Boone, and others who have died (Ana Lucia and Libby especially!)?
I'd still like to see more of Libby's back story : how she became a "clinical psychologist," especially. Was she pretending to be crazy to garner info. on those in the loony bin? Or was she really crazy and faking sanity when on the island?
Is the Dharma initiative on the run now that the electro-magnetic thing has gone off?
Are we going to find out what the big question mark at the center of the island is?
Can't freaking WAIT!!!!
october 3rd it premieres right? can't wait, either.

I just finished watching season two last night.
I think I'm mostly curious to see what role Libby is going to have in flashbacks or whatever. Surely they won't just dump her storyline, whatever it's supposed to be.
nah no way - as long as hurley is involved with the show, she will be too.

lost is easier to understand imo. alias does have a fair bit of a wtf factor to it in the later series. but that's starting to happen now with lost. look at the very end of the finalle of lost season 2. wtf was up with that?

She's been popped into a couple of dresses now where she looked really good.
Garner's okay, though. No idea what her actual personality is like, but her character's personality is kinda meh, though. That hurts. If she had some real charisma, she'd be pretty darned nifty.

he will become a regular on the cast.
Are Michael and Walt coming back to the island? not this season.
possible a clip or 2 towards the end...but neither are scheduled for shoots this year.
In flashbacks, are we going to see Shannon, Boone, and others who have died (Ana Lucia and Libby especially!)? yes to all.
I'd still like to see more of Libby's back story : how she became a "clinical psychologist," especially. Was she pretending to be crazy to garner info. on those in the loony bin? Or was she really crazy and faking sanity when on the island? you will.
Is the Dharma initiative on the run now that the electro-magnetic thing has gone off? the Dharma initiative is basically defunct now...
what we have on that island are the "revolters" (the others) from the project.
Are we going to find out what the big question mark at the center of the island is? dunno.

Yeah, I don't know.
The DUIs:
Two of the women (Michelle somebody and ---------- ?) got busted the same night, probably a year and a half ago? Driving in Hawaii after a party, pulled over within minutes of each other. One paid a fine rather than submit to community service; don't remember any more of the story.
the other -- I think it might've been Mr. Echo? -- just got busted a couple of months ago, I think. DUI, Hawaii, etc.
This is from memory, based on those little gossip/PeopleWatch sort of item on page two of our local paper, but I'm sure the DUIs are correct.

Completely and totally agree. He's, by far, one of the most compelling characters on LOST.
Hope he has some opportunities to break more out of his assigned "strong, silent type" role as the series progresses.
Just as a quick aside, I hope the writers explore what Eko's take on the nanobot cloud is and how he's going to help defend the Oceanic passengers from the Others...

You know, I havent watched anything of series 2 but I did watch the finale last night. That twist was insne, it just doesn't make any sense, although that probably the point. So that jocks bird set the whole thing up, huh, how the fuck did she know he'd get there. Why did the cheesy ruskies only ring her up when the bloke had gotten vapourized? How can an island be electromagnetic? Perhaps I shoulda watched the other 50 episodes.

i don't think it's conclusive that she set the whole thing up... earlier in the episode she said that she could always find him... perhaps that's what she was doing -- looking for him. it's unclear (like most things in Lost).

I don't have TV anymore so I don't know that I'll end up watching season 3 unless I hear it's amazing, which I doubt. I can't even remember last season because so much random shit happened.

Dude,
They resolved a bunch of crap last season.
I don't think Libby's Dharma. I think she was an undercover psychologist in the nuthouse with Jabba.
Desmond's got some weird tie-in with the whole shebang, I agree.
That dude that was with Desmond (and also the one who taught Sayid how to torture in Iraq) will be linked to Kate, in my opinion.

I'm thinking along the lines of "The Truman Show" : you know, they're all being watched and "actors" come in to play roles with them...all as part of an experiment, of course.

Yup, although its too easy to think of other stuff it could be like but its difficult not to think it'll be similar to something else. I cant think of any suggestions of whats going to happen that have gone before that arent original. Me - I reckon something similar to Twin Peaks where the answer was staring you in the face all along right until the very end. There is just something they arent telling us or they have "lied" about.
I finally watched last weeks Lost synopsis to remind me of certain nuances I might have forgotten. The show incorporated scenes that did not air on other shows.......like conversations with Michael and the Others. It was good to get me ready for the new season. Bring it on.

What a great first episode of the season.
Obviously, there's more going on than we suspected. The "Others" seem to be a compelling bunch.

I am Lost as usual....they love to keep us guessing. I liked the 1st 5 minutes when the plane crashes. Who would have thought that the Others attended book clubs.
Who would have thought that the Others attended book clubs.
What really got me was that people still read Stephen King.
I'm pretty excited about this season. I don't remember last season too well. Only bits and pieces. Hopefully they will play it weekly without 3 week breaks, and repeats, and montage episodes. I hate that shit.

i think they were all really close. because jack and julie(t?) were under the aquarium. and sawyer was in a cage. it was probably the aminals section of the island. kind of like a zoo i guess. so she was pretty close by it all.

Hmm. I have to say, I didn't think it was that great, and was a little disappointed with it as a season opener. I mean yes it is still pretty much a light year ahead of almost everything else on TV, but I just felt it lacked a certain... something. I guess it's like, this show always straddles a fine line between extremely compelling and exhaustingly annoying, and almost always manages to tip it just enough into the former to keep you hooked. But I felt that this episode was juuuuuust nudging that little bit towards the latter.

agreed. maybe i'm just impatient, but i was really underwhelmed by this episode. season one was really compelling. season two made it weird and slowed down the pace of the show, but all the same, i had to keep watching just because i was curious. but for an opener, i just found this one lacking. it's like "hey remember when the island exploded and we panned to those russians on some ice station on the season finale? well tonight we're gonna talk about jack's ex wife"
what?

I must say that I am getting a bit tired of the flashback segments. I know that when it is all said and done all the passengers will all be linked but I wish they would shorten the flashbacks.
yeah i agree too. i honestly don't remember if they did so many flashbacks in the first season, but it seems like it's way too flashback-heavy this (and the second) season. even if it were about the same on the first season, they should still tone it down a little at this point, in my opinion. because in the first season, we're just being introduced to the characters, flashbacks are a convenient way to develop them. but at the third season, we're very familiar with them, at this point, it's very possible to continue their development in the present. we really don't need to dwell on their backstories anymore.
i dunno i mean, i can totally respect the writers for doing what they want to do, but...it's just, it's not what I would do
i'm gonna let it slide though, it's only the first episode

But all the answers are going to be in the back stories, thats how its going to develop.e.g Libby is only gonna be involved with flashbacks now, Jack's story hasnt unfolded and there's prolly more. How do you develop it any other way?

So, finally watched the season starter (As a brit I have to wait before it becomes er.. available on the internet). I kinda agree with Bob in that it was a little frustrating that a few of the questions posed by last series were totally ignored but I still enjoyed it. Thought the start was brilliant. Kates Dress was excellent. But I dont know if the "its all under water theory" that they suggested when Jack tried to escape is a red herring or not. MAybe the plane crashed in the sea first but I dont expect to find that out just yet.

Halfway through I turned to my wife and said : "they're not gonna explain crap, are they?"
I was right.
Still, compelling and interesting as a set-up for the next few weeks : i.e., the other fuselagees rescuing them...

how the hell did that team get to the boat without sayid/jin seeing them cross the jetty? another boat?
I must be out of sorts.......the show is moving way too slow lately. Am I the only one that is getting a bit frustrated? They progress at a snails pace and there are only 6 episodes this season. I am getting the impression that the writers are Lost.
Anyway.....I am intrigued by the woman in the brush that talked to Kate. I can't believe that Sun had the maid fired for that figurine. She should have blamed Mr Nobody. The power of the Red Sox winning......I thought the White Sox won last year.

i think maybe the best way to watch lost is ignore it when it's on tv and wait for the DVDs... but who has that sort of willpower? :p i'm only doing this with season 1 as i thought it was a pile of crap when i first saw it and didn't follow it.
You may be right. I watched the entire 1st season on DVD and enjoyed watching at my own pace.......but it is unrealistic to wati for the entire series to wrap.
I watched the entire series of Freaks and Geeks after it was canceled.
bump.
how the hell did that team get to the boat without sayid/jin seeing them cross the jetty? another boat?
Yeah...I think it was from another boat...because they weren't wet and they would have been spotted walking up the dock.
I'm starting to lose interest in the show...but not enough for me not to watch it.
I'm starting to lose interest in the show...but not enough for me not to watch it.
For the same reasons as me....or some other reasons?
I actually started talking to the TV like mental patient. My wife was getting irritated. I just can't believe they can keep this pace and maintain ratings. Do they plan for the show to run for 10 years? I almost don't care about Claire, Hurley and all the other passengers anymore. I just want a little more information. I realize they need to maintain some mystery but it is getting a little annoying. I dept wanting them to show a little of Kate's ass when she was on the chain gang. It needs to be on HBO.
I liked Smith with Ray Liotta. It has action and kept you interested. Of course, it was canceled after 3 episodes...before the last heist.
For the same reasons as me....or some other reasons?
Nothing insane is happening anymore...like the big thing in this episode was that Ben has been on the island for his whole life and still has contact with the outside world? what the fuck. if you are gonna tell me something "cool" make sure its "COOL".
Its just not giving enough and I realized that after the episodes from this season are over i'm nt like "holy shit" like I was for the first couple of seasons.
I think the highpoint of last night's episode was Kate bending over. As nice as that is...it shouldn't be the main thing that sticks out of my mind watching a tv show....or maybe it should. I don't know.

Patience, young padawans...
This Wednesday MUCH more will be revealed, as Locke and the rest of the fuselagees start the trek to go "rescue" Sawyer, Kate, and Jack.
BTW, what the heck happened to Hurley? Are they going to show him traipsing through the jungle on his way back, starving to death and sweating like a stuck pig?
It's (unfortunately) starting to get a bit like the Lord of the Rings trilogy, with everyone freaking walking everywhere and not much happening the next few weeks.
Come to think of it, MY patience is running a bit thin.....
They NEED to explain a few more things these next few weeks or it's going to be a LONG hiatus...
Also, I was PISSED that the "others" got away with the sailboat so damn easily. Sun, Jin, and Sayid should have gone all Rambo and stood on the edge of the docks...wailing...shooting their guns like madmen until that freaking sailboat blew up with everyone on it (especially "Zeke," I totally dislike that dude).
Anyhow...hope Locke and Eko can make it better this week.
Yeah...I think it was from another boat...because they weren't wet and they would have been spotted walking up the dock.
there ain't another boat on the jetty when the yacht takes off. carefully spotted by parallel.

Alright!
Last night was quite good....
*************** SPOILER ALERT ******************
So....
What kind of scam are the "Others" running? That fake pacemaker thing with Sawyer? A separate island like Alcatraz?
Do they have some kind of tunnel that runs from island to island? Or did they need the boat from Desmond to go from island to island safely? Can they teleport?
This next week should be damn good too...with Sayid and Locke, etc. coming after JAck, Kate, and Sawyer.
Nice surgery, BTW, when the lady with JAck "supposedly" couldn't save the chick that Sun shot.
IT's starting to get good again....

Supposed to be Eko flashbacks : he's about the best actor on the show, so oughta be good.

Tonight is a new episode and then the go on hiatus. The actors on this show have a great gig. 5 or 6 shows and then.......Ok, lets leave Hawaii and go on vacation.
I'm getting fed up. Im sick of all the back stories of people we already know about. Yes, kate was on the run, blah blah fucking blah. How many times are they going to show that.

sweet! i signed up for SKY recently and i get it before that. i heard that LOST is now not even going terrestrial anymore -- just like 24.
you know, it was actually a pretty tense moment, last episode. when what's his face was about to shoot sawyer, and you knew jack had a plan, but you weren't sure if it was gonna work out in time. i dunno, maybe i'm just dumb, but i actually wasn't sure what was gonna happen for those few seconds, it was exciting. that should happen more often. but not too often.
also, why does kate not have armpit hair

Kate doesn't have armpit hair because they found razors...
Until she was captured by the Others....
Which means she SHOULD have armpit hair...
Crap....
This kind of logical reasoning can make one insane.

that's what i was thinking, yeah. it made sense when she had access to the razors (although i dunno if shaving your armpits is such a high priority in that situation but whatever, what do i know about shaving armpits), but i doubt that the others are just giving her razorblades.

HAL 9000

Hey Lost losers – I have a Lost based theory – its not really a spoiler cos I made it up but I will put in the traditional spoiler gap just in case….
Hal9000 time travel theory.
This is the way it will go down – at some point in the future of the show, an opportunity will present itself to escape the island by travelling back in time – this might sound pretty crazy but Desmond has already demonstrated time travel when the hatch blew up.
The realisation that time travel is possible will come about when it is discovered that Rose and Bernard are the too skeletons in the cave in series one with the white and black stones. This will probably be discovered if Rose produces a bag with the stones that matches the ones in the cave.
Sticking with the programs theme of destiny vs free will, it will be realised that Rose and Bernard have to die in the cave (having gone back in time) in order to alert the future crash survivors to the possibility of time travel or some other form of escape. Thus the show will end with Bernard and Rose dying together in the cave in the 1950’s as a sacrifice and fulfilment of their destiny in order to save the rest of the crash survivors.
Anyone else got any theories about what the hell is going on with this island

'Lost' set for three more years
ABC hit expires in 2010
By JOSEF ADALIAN
In a potentially paradigm-shifting play, ABC has agreed to let the producers of "Lost" set an expiration date for the series -- three years in the future.
Skein will now wrap after the production of 48 additional episodes that will be divided into three, shortened 16-episode seasons. Final episode -- the show's 119th -- will air during the 2009-10 season.
In conjunction with the advance order, "Lost" showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have inked hefty new multi-year overall deals with ABC Television Studio to continue with the series until the end. Duo had made setting a wrap date for the show a condition for staying.
Lindelof and Cuse had wanted "Lost" to end after two more seasons. They're essentially still getting their wish: The 48 episodes they'll produce over the next three years is the same number the show produced during its first two seasons.
ABC execs, however, came up with a way to keep "Lost" on its sked for three more seasons. What's more, the 16-episode arcs will run without repeats (a la "24"), allowing the Alphabet to make the show more of an event.
Last weeks show caught me off guard. They finally pulled me back in.

This is about the only thing so far I haven't liked. From bits and pieces I'd read or heard, Lost supposedly really derailed this third season, but, to me, so far so good.
