View Full Version : Do you believe in The Law of Attraction?

I don't mean just having a positive attitude and willing things to happen, but the actual concept of attracting the circumstances, events and material articles you wish for by focussing on that outcome at all times. Like, if you truly believe in something and expect it to happen, wholeheartedly, it will. That the Universe will place these things in your path and it's just up to you to take advantage of the situation. That like attracts like and you're basically a human magnet.

I used to kinda think it was just a lot of hype, personally. But a couple of people I know have really dedicated themselves to this belief and have told me a few strange stories now. So it's got me kind of wondering. I've gone from thinking it's retarded to just foolish.

Yea, i believe that if you want something , focus positives energies on it and work for it....it will most likely happen.

depend what you want tho...gotta be realistic.

yes I do. I've had some absolutely uncanny good things happen to me in my life, positive stuff, that I am grateful for. Crazy bad shit too but that comes with the territory.

The people who said they believe in this:

Do you mean that you believe in it in a logical sense ie if you want something, you work hard for it and you are therefore more likely to get it.

or

do you mean that there is a magical pixie being who looks out for you and gives you the things you want?

In some of these posts it sounds like the latter. Which is cool. I would like a pixie.

nah, i did the three day thing about 5 years ago. i hated the sales pushing and the people there are weird - but i did get a lot of good out of it. i think it was one of the things that most changed me for the better. but id be wary to send a loved one there without being sure that they are strong enough only go get what they paid for and not be duped into giving more money. rackets

that's what i named it ;) ;) ;)

this joke really works better in conjunction with the other one..maybe i should write a footnote or something

anyway i don't believe in the law of attraction. i find things start happening more often when i stop caring about them.

I've expected good stuff to happen to me, I've wished, even prayed for it to happen, but it never did,
so I think this theory is a load of bullshit.

Maybe we do little things without knowing it, to affect the outcome of events, or our perception of things as being positive or negative. And when you focus your desires in a direction - not just wanting it but really focusing that way, then by default you end up doing little things you're not aware of that in some way cause things to happen. And it feels like things are just happening to you or around you, when you actually have more control than you are aware of.

I think of this when I talk to people who seem to constantly have problems with other people. According tothem, they're always being treated rudely or given a hard time and they didn't do anything to deserve it. I always wonder if they're unknowingly doing something, while expecting to be mistreated, that makes it a self fulfilling prophecy.

Maybe this is the kind of thing one has to be good at, and you're just really, really bad at it. I don't know, I don't know if I believe in it. I guess it's worth a shot though.

I slammed my other foot in my car door the other day -- so now it's both hands and both feet within the past two weeks.

What if someone ELSE was focusing on that happening to you!

Exactly^

And you may have been anticipating slamming the car door on another limb, Doc. That's how the law works apparently. Like if you think you're going to have a bad day, the Universe puts things in your path to correspond with your "wishes". Okay, I just sound like a real nutjob now.

I want to point out that the incident involving my right hand was a result of my sister closing the window for no good reason and without reason -- we weren't parking or anything. The other three incidents were more embarrassing.

I have also been involved in a high number of instances of spilling coffee on myself while getting into my car in the morning. It's difficult to believe that my car door has become such a source of danger all of a sudden.

I'm undecided. However, many of the things I focused on have been happening for me lately. Some of them took work though. Others, they weren't extremely important things but I believed would happen (talked myself in to thinking that anyway) and voila.

Strange.

Sure. Not like the lottery, or anything, but hard work and persistence do pay off. I believe positive things happen to positive people who are trying to make things happen.

Unluckly somethings are not so easy to make happen...and "work and persistance" is not even practicables!:(
