I got a haircut on Saturday that's a little, well, not horribly different but different enough. Angled bangs and one side is REALLY short, shortest I ever had bangs. They looked fantastic on other girls but I was unsure how they were on me, almost kind of sad I did it to be honest.
I was out last night was in irritated mood from everyone being so obnoxious. As I was leaving one guy made room for me to get by the crowd, and he stopped me just for a second and said "I really like your hair."
So my point is, Guys: to make a girl smile, complimenting her hair is a really really good idea apparently. I don't think a man has ever complimented me on my hair of all things. Even if he was gay, I'm happy. Odd how something like that can make you feel good.

are bangs the same thing as a fringe?>

oh also the girl who did my hair put pee-a-boo strips of blonde in my hair it totally fried it (gross texture on those parts of the hair, really dry, and really ugly looking) and so I bought a brown dye just to go over it so it doesn't look as horrible and WAY too much money on hair products to help fix it because it's so dry, lol!

well, i cut it myself, so i couldn't really do the whole job. i did a bit of simple layering.
Give it a week and you'll feel more comfortable with it. Bangs are hot shit, yo.

buy 2 avocados
mash one up, put a sprinkle of olive oil in it, spread it on your hair, cover your hair in a towel.
mash the other one, put in some garlic salt, lemon juice, and basil and eat it with chips while the other avocado is working moisturizing powers into your fried locks.
wash your hair after about half an hour.(y) :D
oh and, lets see that haircut. maybe it'll grow out into something you're more comfortable with. the first week is always the hardest.

ah jeez, my mom's one of those people that puts food all on her face and hair and shit. and she chases me around with bits of cucumber, yelling "it will restore your pH balance!"

my mom used to put aloe vera goop into my shampoos because i used to dye it so much. and made quaker oats face masks (for my ever-pimpling adolescent face, she said). and my grandmother had a homemade recipe for anything. i wish i had a chance to pick her brains now.

these days my bangs are deciding that they want to part the other way. I keep forgetting and brushing them to the regular side, which makes them look crazy. but usually my hair looks good...or "cool" anyway, because it's just massive and people seem to like it...well, hipsters do, since early 80's kind of hair is popular around here. :/

p.s. it took me a few months with bangs at first to really get a handle on them. once you train them, they're pretty easy to keep looking natural.

I'm in the process of shaving all mine off. My razor ran out of juice, so while it recharges, I gotta sit here looking like Steven Seagal's stunt double :(

Agreed.
We wimmins take pride in our hair.
And I've been glowing all day because of the awesome fuss my co-workers made over mine.
I think I gave the pantry cook a boner.

Man, did you read the directions?
Once it's been mixed you use it and throw the rest out when you are done. You can't save it.
If it came with conditioner, it will condition your hair, but that's about it.

how do you make your hair look all shiny and glossy without them looking greasy?
my 'fresh washed/blow dried/dyed dry' look doesnt seem to be cool anymore
crystal and cosmo look like they put something into their hair
tell me! i want to be cool again!

I was wondering the same thing yesterday, before I had my hair cut. I asked a girl I work with, who always has sleek, shiny, perfect hair, and she recommended John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Satin Shine finishing creme (http://mp.hairboutique.com/product.asp?ProdID=106958&CtgID=). I bought some last night and am in love with the stuff.
John Frieda also has a Sheer Blonde (http://mp.hairboutique.com/product.asp?ProdID=107013&CtgID=) line for blondes.

yeah, my hair secret is being half beaner.
but i take super good care of it too...i use shampoos without any SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate), and keep my scalp nice n healthy. if i don't, i get wicked bad flakes.
crys, if your hair's as fried as mine was when i got it bleached a week ago, use some oil - preferably jojoba - in your shampoo, or directly on the hair and scalp every night (and sleep with a towel over your pillow).
this shit (http://vitanetonline.com/description/GV0023/vitamins/Nutrafix-Hair-Reconstructor/) rocks too.

this is exactly why i always try to talk people out of bangs. bangs are for children. jennifer aniston always has awesome hair except for that time she got bangs. i can't really tell from your post though whether you actually have bangs or whether your hair was just trimmed a little more than you wanted so that it would be layered around your face.
sometimes when darker brown hair goes blonde, and then you want to cover it, it looks a little greenish. you may need a brown with a hint of red to cover it if the other washes out a little weird.

I personally love having side-bangs. I had bangs up until I was 15 when I said NO MORE! And so when I grew them out, I brushed them to the side so it looked like I didn't have any - until I put my hair into a ponytail. I like having a little something there, because if it was all just swept back, my forehead's completely exposed, which I hate.

honestly, I have no idea haha. :( sorry to be of no help.
And yeah I like side swept bangs, and wanted to keep that going but then the girl cut them angled and one side super short. And I just dyed over it all brown and it looks WAY more healthy. I can still feel a bit of a difference but it got the job done as far as how it looks. Pictures soon maybe if I'm ever home.
oh and thanks cos for the tip !

so yeah. I guess it's not a gigantic difference but the shortness of the bangs kind of bothers me. Alas. It'll grow.
QueenAdrock
09-21-2006, 09:10 PM
I like it! I do know what you mean about the shortness getting to you - they cut mine too short last time too so it was harder to sweep away. Yours looks like it shouldn't be too hard - in a few weeks it should be long enough to bobby pin or do something more with it. At the length you have it, it's hard to do much with other than let 'em be. And it's still cute, just saying if you're not used to bangs they can get to you sometimes.
beastieangel01
09-21-2006, 09:42 PM
thanks :) and yeah I was able to pin the short side a bit but it looked kind of weird. I'll get used to it as you said. I just doubt I'll cut my hair the same way again!

wait. you made it seem like they look like shit. they don't look bad at all -- you just aren't used to them. in 2 days, they will be exactly what you want them to be, and then you just trim them yourself when they need to be done.
for whatever reason, cosmo, i just don't count your current hairstyle as having bangs.
typically when i say "don't get bangs!" i mean these (http://www.bamboogirl.com/news/uploaded_images/bangs%201%20sm-716915.jpg).

as much as i love harsh bangs, yeah, my face is too round to wear them. the sideswept thing works well for me though.
i'd really love to have those REALLY short (like, an inch long) teensy curly bangs the rockabilly/DIY chicks wear. like her (http://myspace-839.vo.llnwd.net/00541/93/85/541015839_l.jpg) in the middle, only not preggers.
