haha. how perceptive i am; i noticed the actual sureshot thread before this one.

boyohboy. you are lucky. i was all amped up this morning because i was like "yo it's the weekend! i should take the boy down to the cca and drink some delicious pear cider on sunday" and then i was like "FUCK, NO! it's closed on a sunday!!! WAHHH!" so i might have to resort to a - horror - wetherspoons. actually, my flatmate's girlfriend works in a wetherspoons so it may not be all bad. could get it for free!

The McDonalds of pubs!!
Those places are like drinking in a leisure centre.

leisure centre hey??

that sounds like the kind of place u hang out wearing comfy adidas tracksuits while drinking beer or scotch sitting in a bean bag while porn is playing on telly in the corner. with the soundtrack of de la soul... am i close?

Oh how I wish you were, I'd be the first one there dressed in head to toe velour.

But no. It's a slightly sweaty smelling sporty kind of place where estate agents play badminton cheaply, ladies do 'jazzercise' and kids have birthday parties. Hard floors, cream walls, health posters, payphones and vending machines.

haha, they are quite horrific. i'm a supporter of the independent wee pub myself. although there is one particular "family" of pubs that have different names but curiously the same sorta menus/fonts in promotions etc that is quite nice. hubbards and the phoenix in glasgow, they're in that family. they're quite oldey-many and cool.

wetherspoons, yack! you can get two meals for 86pence or something stupid. soggy fish and limp chips and a blob of tartar sauce. or 2% meat sausages and mash. yucksies!

my wetherspoons is actually quite cool. it's a converted picturehouse, so it had different floor and stuff, the crowd in the afternoon is nice, and so is the food. and the kopparberg.
