What helps with pain for that time of the month for you?

I've tried Ibuprofen, works pretty well most of the time. I've also tried exercising because I heard that the constant pumping of your heart helps with blood flow and relieves cramping.

But now I'm outta ibuprofen and I've just gotten back from a bike ride and I'm still hurting. That dull, constant aching feeling. You know the one. :(

i don't get that pain that often, but i use the eckerd store brand pms formula. of course, there is no more eckerd stores here (cvs bought them out), so i guess when i run out i'll have to try cvs' brand and see if it works.

it's good shit.

and hey, you men stay out! it's a question for tha ladeez.

I wonder if you still get "periods" after those, actually. Because it just ties off the tubes, doesn't your body still think "Wooo, time to fertilize some eggs!" and you'd still get your period due to blood lining the uterus and then exiting? It just wouldn't have any eggs involved.

AND YEAH, WHAT BEF SAID. NO PENII ALLOWED. KTHX.

Get a balloon or a strong plastic bag with no holes or tears, fill it up with warm to hot water tie it in a tight knot, pop in a beastie boys CD, sit on the couch, put the hot water balloon/bag under your shirt on your stomach turn the volume up on the stereo and sit there until the pain goes away!

I've already scared him plenty. The past 3 times I've seen him, I've been PMSing, so he's pretty much only seen my monsterous side. On the upside, he still accepts me after all that grouchiness. :o

Seriously. When he was here, I almost murdered my brother over him leaving a macaroni and cheese bowl in the sink without soaking it. Like, I would have killed him with my barehands if I didn't have company. :(

And SandyLove, that sounds really great. If only I had a balloon. Or a heating pad for that matter. I should steal mine back from my parents the next time I visit them....

Paracetamol is often better than ibuprofen if it's a dull, permanent ache, but if you have strong cramps, ibuprofen can relax uterine muscles. You can take one of each of paracetamol and ibuprofen, to cover all bases, or, take two paracetamol, then two hours later, take two ibuprofen, but this all depends on the mg of each and their maximum daily amounts.

Walking and other exercise works wonders, and can shorten the time of a period, and my personal favourite is a hot water bottle, heat pads, etc.

And to prevent painful periods, starflower capsules are good.

ibuprofen rots your stomach too.

That's very true, and can also deplete vitamins.

i always take codeine and paracetamol capsules. i don't know if you can get it over the counter in the US as codeine is basically an opiate. also my american friend always stocks up on this particular brand of it when she comes over here, but maybe it depends on where you live.

makes you feel a bit high too, so it's all good fun(y)

back in the day my 'cure' was to make my boyfriend go out, get me a greggs sausage roll and a chai latte and rub my belly.

now i don't really get period pains as i'm on the pill. nothing to warrant the killing of pain anyhoo.

I've heard that giving your man a killer blow job is great for getting rid of pain

Back in the day when I was fertile I used evening primrose (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evening_primrose) capsules, they were the best! They really made a difference. Also I ate a lot of broccoli, mushrooms, spinach and chicken for iron and zinc, which were also good for PMS.
Now I only have the ovaries left (they left them so I wouldn't turn into a total bitch at 36), dangling in their loneliness, sometimes (but very, very rarely) I can feel the egg coming loose, but it just dissappears in the body cause it has no way out...

i also take a liquid omega 3-6-9 oil every day for a number of things and it really helps with the pms when that rolls around.
