I checked the VH1 site and it didn't mention that Beastie Boys were performing...They have to be performing,it would be nonsense other wise...Can anyone give info bout this?
as far as my knowledge let's me travel - the peeps getting honoured don't really perform.. i think? people do covers of their songs. beastie's are getting honoured so... i doubt they will..

A number of honorees have also performed.
LL and Public Enemy did.

I thought I read that this year, most of the honorees will perform. With the exception of E, russel, and a few others

the way it works is... somebody will perform a song to honor the honoree..and after that the honoree will come out and perform... everybody is performing this year except bam and eazy e...and of course, russel simmons. so the beasties should be performing. I hope Q-Tip has something to do with it.

i wonder who will cover the Beasties and what track they will cover... perhaps Paul Revere among many artists? im assuming they will have at least 3 diff MCs be doin Bboy tracks...it be weird if they tried covering Intergalactic or somethin recent...they prob would do like 1986 to 1992 material i bet.

it'd be interesting to see other people performing their songs...but i gotta admit, i'd rather see the beasties up there, doing their own thing (y)

i just wonder WHAT they're gonna perform...is anyone gonna start a thread about that? :P

I really hope it's not something off LTI, but I'm guessing it will be.

My bet is that Common, Talib Kweli, and Q-Tip will perform one of the Beastie's songs together. Maybe Tip sticks around for Get It Together.

Word... It seems it would be a little disrespectable (to the Boys) to do a song off of LTI, do to the fact R Simmons is allso being honered that night... Plus, there are so many other great tracks that could be done....

i hope it's mostly stuff of LTI, they don't do nearly enough stuff off that album. I'd at least like to hear em do the new style or hold it now hit it, or time to get ill with maybe doug E fresh

why would it BE disrespectful? they themselves play the songs off LTI so how it would be direspectful? last time I checked, theyre all cool with Russ.
besides, the album rocketed the boys into mega-rap stars. it would be stupid not to perform anything from the album.

Russel Simmons interviewed them a couple years ago and he stepped over the line a couple times, provoking comments like "why you gotta be like that Russel?"

no, these do not come off easily. they're plastered to the wood behind it.
there is another version of subway ads that might be easier to take.

Monday morning, and the drama begins. All week I’ll be helping as The Roots and The Illadelphonics prepare for the VH1 Hip Hop Honors next weekend. We’re keeping most of the surprises under wraps but let me just break it down like this: The Mighty ?uesto is going to perform in three different tributes, and act as Musical Director of seven, simultaneously running back and forth between various rehearsals. So, road trip to Philly for rehearsals this morning (note to self: remind ?uesto that he can’t be in two places at once… alternatively, give in to the superhuman afropowers that said drummer tends to possess, and find a decent cape for dude). And no, Gwen and Jay won’t be jumping out of any cake or singing any duets, as far as I know. All I do know is that this event will be chock full o’ old school hip hop legends… we’re talking musicians who have changed your life. More updates to come later in the week.

Just go to the VH1 website, they list all the performers. Among them are Common, Q-Tip and Talib Kweli. I'm thinking maybe the three of them would do a Beasties track. Just check it out on VH1.com
