View Full Version : Quiznos vs. Subway

I just saw a commercial of people making fun of Subway for having no meat whereas Quiznos's meat is "bursting out of the sub" as one guy put it. Now, I get what they're trying to say - Quiznos is heartier and therefore better. But also, Subway markets itself on being healthy, whereas Quiznos does not. So duh, everyone should know that Quiznos *should* have more meat. Meat = calories and fat. If Subway wasn't all about being a "healthy alternative" then I could see them making fun of them for not having enough meat.
It just seems like a silly argument to me. Like making fun of the 100-calorie snack packs for not having enough cookies. Well, no shit.

Quiznos is a sub shop that prides themselves on toasting sammiches. They're pretty good, except you can't pick and choose what goes on them. Which sucks. And there aren't many healthy alternatives.

Quiznos sandwiches taste much better, which is one way to be sure they're bad for you.

Quizno's is good, but I like Subway better. No matter the sub I have, I always go with the works, and I like their options for different kind of breads. (y)

All of those sub places just dont do it for me. I mean why would you eat fast food at all if its gonna take 15-20 mins to put the bloody sandwich together. Better off making your own.

I always go with the works
Doesn't "the works" include jalapenos and mayo and stuff? I'm all for everything up on that bitch, just not spicy or fatty stuff. Well, fatty stuff is okay but I've started to be highly against pure globs of fat. I'm a disgrace to my friends. :(

Quiznos usually takes a while because they toast each one, but the Subways around here usually take less than 2 minutes. They're pretty damn fast.

Subway sandwiches taste a lot fresher. And they're a little less expensive. But at Quiznos it seems like you're getting something you wouldnn't necessarily be able to whip up at home if you weren't a lazy bastard. And Quiznos has better commercials. Tough one. I'm gonna have to sleep on it.

A few of my freinds worked at subway for a time they actually have to take a sandwich test. THey must memorize what goes on each certain thing. If they dont pass, No hire for them.

Quizno's doesn't have nearly as many fixins as Subway. And that commercial was bogus because Subway sandwiches have more meat than that one they showed! Subway subs are always bursting with stuff, and besides, they're making it right in front of you so you can request more or less. I vote Subway. My one experience at Quiznos was a downer. I kept having to ask the guy to add more veggies because I wasn't getting any meat. Even if it's that one guy's fault, I'm anti-quiznos now. His sandwich was a poor representative of his employer.
Jimmy John's is pretty good.

They're both way stingy on the meat. And subway's meat is pre-sliced and vaccum-sealed months before it ever becomes a sandwhich.
Y'all need an A Cut Above Italian hoagie. That's the spot.
For those with loot, you can get an idea of what I'm ranting about with something like this: http://www.tasteofphiladelphia.com/menu.html

It only takes about 1 minute actually, maybe 3-5 if you get it toasted. And making your own? I think most of the time if people were in the circumstances where they could make their own, or had any desire to in the first place - regardless of being better off, then they wouldn't be going to a sandwich shop. I mean, why do you think people go out to eat at any time? It's easier and you don't have to do anything. You know, even if it DID take 15-20 minutes at Subway, which it doesn't, I certainly wouldn't be better off driving all the way home, stopping on the way to get all my ingredients in bulk and then having to make the same sandwich every day in order to use it all up so it doesn't go bad. I mean, THINK about this!

Meat doesn't automatically equal unhealthy, kids. I mean, that's kind of like saying "Sugar has not fat, so I'll have a nce, healthy sugar sammich!"
Uh. No.
Anyway.
The only Quiznos shops I've been to (a whopping two stores) had lousy customer service. The one nearby was bad enough twice in a row that I don't take our company's weekly luncheon business there now.
Anyway.
Quiznos or Subway? -- it's Togos!

Subway isn't necessarily good, but it's a hell of a lot better than Quizno's. especially for a vegetarian. fuck, their "veggie" sub is a big wet bag of grossness. i've only ever tried it twice (when no other options were available) and both times ended up throwing it in the trash with an "ugh" and a "fuck this sandwich."
abcdefz
09-25-2006, 01:42 PM
I don't know why there aren't more legitimate vegetarian options at fast food places, or veggie fast food, period. I mean, it seems like it'd be easier in a lot of ways, and the first folks who do it right are gonna rake it in, because it'll be the only place to go, really.

there's this awesome place called Sharky's near us, that's kind of a ripoff of Baja Fresh (which is also quite nice), only way better. they use organic rice and beans, and have fucking AWESOME veggie options. they have this marinated tofu that you can get in either a burrito, soft tacos, or a fajita bowl...seriously, it's fantastic. we eat there all the time.
other than that, there's really not much fast food i can eat. subway very rarely, del taco every so often...and that's about it.

In and Out Burger
My buddy Jay would agree. I haven't had it in quite a long time. And, at the time I consumed an in and out burger, I wasn't a big fan of the works. My taste has changed since then and I know that nowadays I'd be all about it. I hope to hit that spot when I reach the west.
When I was in Hawaii, I had a cheese burger from Carl Jr.'s. For fast food, I was impressed. But for some serious burgerage, hit up Charley's in Paia on Maui.

Meat doesn't automatically equal unhealthy, kids. I mean, that's kind of like saying "Sugar has no fat, so I'll have a nice, healthy sugar sammich!"
It's not the same though. Granted, meat doesn't have to be unhealthy, but when you pile it into a sammich, the calories add up. So does the fat content. So by Quiznos saying that they have so much more meat and are awesome, it's like, well of course you have more shit in your sandwich. It's hard for Subway to claim to be "healthy" (especially with their "7 sammiches with 5 grams of fat or less" dealie) if they had the same amount of meat as Quiznos did...especially if it was prime rib.

I think you're automatically assuming red meat.
Granted, neither place has a whole lot of white meat (or they tend to screw it up by piling on sugar with the chicken breast, etc.), but stuff like a baked chicken breast or sliced turkey is pretty hard to disparage.
QueenAdrock
09-25-2006, 02:56 PM
True, assuming red meat. The commercial was talking about prime rib and how theirs is stacked high, versus a Subway sandwich (which you can't even tell what kind of meat they have because it looks like just a roll anyways). If they piled their sammiches full of lean turkey breast in the commercial, that'd be a whole 'nother story.

Nah, "the works" is all the vegetables except for jalapenos and others. You have to request them additionally (along with mustard, mayo and all the other sauces).
