just curious, i kind of am too. by kind of i mean ive been doing it for like two years, but only in my bedroom untill about a month ago. i was so rediculously nervous the first time i did it for a crowd. and then like a week later a friend of mine had a b-day party and they kept bugging me to go on and i did, and its just so much fun now getting to play in front of people.

i used to have a pair of SL1200's, but it was never more than a hobby for me so i sold them. with records costing $20 a pop it's just too expensive if you're not going to take it seriously. i have about 2 grand worth of records still tho, so i take them over to some mates house every so often to muck around and remember the good old days

An old Vestax PMC-05 II. The crossfader is kind of jiggly, it's what I'm used to though.

thats not too bad, my first mixer was waaaaaaay worse, i had a numark 1050 or something like that, it was like $80 brand new. now ive had a PMC-07 pro2 for a while, got it on sale(y)

nice. Yeah I need to play with them more. I always find my free time gets eaten up doing other things though. I have such a small amount. therefore, I'm a terrible DJ, my only strength is track arrangement and some beatmatching. Can't cut to save my life. I'd make a terrific Disco dj.

yeah im the opposite, i basically only scratch. and i have the opportunity to do thisbig event next year where i get to do my own hour long set, but the problem is ive never done a "set". i usually just get up there and do whatever. but im pretty sure i can come up with something in like 6 months.

I did at a party once. Since I cant/couldnt mix for shit I would just backspin from record to record rather than attempt to match and suck. Luckily I played awesome music so no one noticed.

my roommate used to have turntables but sold them when he was unemployed. I used to play with em.

I'm a DJ and I've got a so-so collection of records, I've never performed at a party or anything but given the opportunity I would definitely try it at least once but to be honest I'm not really good.

yeah I spin and do a little scratching, used to do gigs but since work and school eat up most my time I just do it to burn off some steam

I have 3 1200mkII's and a Denon x300 which is an excellent mixer for the price...it has a Penny & Giles Fader with hamster switches on the fader and volume sliders which is killer.

here's a pic of my setup

I love my turntables...i'll scratch till i die.

Buy yourself a BOSS RC-20 before this gig and have some fun looping shit on the fly, its really easy to get used to and will add a lot to the gig.
