View Full Version : Decide what to do with my hair!

I want a change, but I'm not sure what to get.

So far, I have a box of hair color in "toasted almond," which should be close to my normal haircolor. I just want to get rid of my summer highlights I had put in, because it's fall time now and I want to go a little darker.

BUT -

Do I get a haircut with long layers, or should I go for a permanent wave? I think I'm gonna stick with my side-bangs, and I'm interestsed in a wave but my hair is pretty damn thick so I don't know how that would look.

Any ideas?

You could shave it all off, but you'd be biting my style (or lack thereof).

i was going to suggest that. have it shiny bald. like a bowling ball.

only get a wave if your hair is pretty long otherwise you'll look like a poodle and i'll make fun of you

well..do you want a big change or just a little something new?

and about your hair color,it depends on the color of your skin..see, if you got a real pale skin (like me),i advise you against having a very dark hair colour...

God I hate you guys.

Okay, I think I've decided against the wave because my friend says it's a bitch to brush and a bitch to straighten.

But now I have to find a new hairstylist that will make my hair straight, yet layered. My hairstylist now makes my hair kind of flip out, which is pissing me off lately.

Naw, it's not dark. It's "light golden brown" which is my natural haircolor...but it looks a bit darker than my color now, so it should work out.

Thanks Skra, but that wouldn't look good with my face shape. Shorter usually isn't too good. I've got really thick hair too, so it's hard to find something that will work. It's so thick that I snapped the rubber band they used when they were doing an updo on me for prom in high school. :(

My sister has thick hair with a natural wave. It's fustrating for her though to tame it nicely, it takes a lot of time. I've also got very thick hair but it's much straighter, a similar texture to yours. I have to get layers cut to get rid of some weight otherwise I feel like I've got a carpet-head. If you get layers you will definitely have to get it cut every 6-8 weeks otherwise it gets pretty messy.

only 1 chemical treatment at a time woman!!!!

color it. wait a month or so, then decide on the wave.

I hate layers. just get it angled in the front it looks just as nice and requires less styling

I always have to get layers. My hair's so damn thick, and like voltana said, it gets really heavy if I don't.

I'm thinking of trying someone new, though. So maybe their layers will look differently from what I usually get. I just need a trim, so I should just go to Hair Cuttery...but they sometimes do a shit job of layering. I just hate going and paying like $30 or more for a 7-minute trim haircut. (n)

I think a subtle brown (on the light side) with the sideswept bangs and long layers would look pretty fantastic on you :) and the fact that you are going darker will bring out your eyes more I imagine. (y)

Agree, thats where i was going with my suggestion.

Oh my god that was hands down the gayest thing I've ever done on this board to date. what's next? picking out drapes? Cooking Foie Gras?

For the love of god don't ever get a perm.

listen to documad.

i like the idea of a darker shade to bring out your eyes. but could you get sort of a longish bob, like a little bit longer than jennifer aniston's when she cut hers all off? you could still keep the side bangs, the layers are long, etc.

You know, I think I may try the sideswept bangs. I used to have actual bangs, and right now I have bangs that you can't really see unless I pull my hair back (like right here (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v131/QueenAdrock1/DrunkenDC/diamajimmy.jpg)) so I think it's time to try sideswept. (y)

yeah change up your part in your hair to be to the other side instead of the middle.
it's so fun and easy!

I just made some Foie Gras, you care for some? It goes well with a an oakey mid-autumn blush.

oh oh oh

also before you dye it, how dark is the color you bought? you have to be careful, especially if you already have light hair. It will turn out WAY darker on you than most. So yeah, take caution. Also the first few days it tends to be a lot darker regardless, so don't freak out :)

i love it when chicks shave one side of their hair bald, leave the other side long, part it, and let hair hang over the bald part for that surprise effect.

It's "light golden brown" which is maybe the same as my normal hair color, though it looks a *little* darker on the model on the front, which is why it's weird that it's "light" golden brown.

I've used this stuff before. It's the semi-permanent stuff that lasts 28 washes, but I've found that it lasts longer and just sorta fades away after a few months...which is a good thing, because I just need it to cover up my highlights till they grow out.

I'm wondering if it'll color evenly. Like I have blonde in my hair, plus my normal hair color, so I'm wondering if it'll just darken my hair (like, it'll just make my highlights darker, but it'll make my natural hair darker too, so maybe it'll just make 'darker highlights') as opposed to taking out the highlights and blending smoothly. I've never covered up highlights before, so I don't know.

beastieangel01
09-26-2006, 03:12 PM
it will end up like "darker highlights" depending on how light they are. I recently had a mishap with some blonde being put in my hair and went over it with a solid brown. It kind of looks cool, though.

I got it cut, and then semi-permanently dyed over it with brownish/reddish.

oooh, lovely colour! rich and very autumn-y. (y)

this reminds me, i'm due to get my, uh, annual hair cut soon (i strongly dislike having my hair cut so i don't make a habit out of it). you know you need a change when you just whip you hair into a ponytail every morning and do nothing with it. i need a style, man. it's going to be short but very long fringe-dominated. i'm going to vidal sassoon. imma pull out all the pricey salon shots!

About 15 artists/groups recorded the song you're thinking of before The White Stripes.

So no, I don't think of them when you say that.

cut looks good, but here's my professionally gay opinion: you need some products in that stuff. you should get it looking messier, more piecey. use a solid wax or something like that. maybe too fluffy right now
