These guys just don't have a lot of luck with the labels they sign to. Hell Hath No Fury's probably gonna get pushed back a few more times. And by the time it drops anybody that's still interested will have downloaded it.

Regardless, best rap group to have debuted in the last 10 years, probably. I can't really think of a runner-up.

more of a little brother person really. that runner up thing is a toughie though. I'm struggling to think of any good rap groups to emerge in the last ten years. Any that had early potential disappeard real quick, the arsonists for example

I like Little Brother, they're consistent. But they're not exactly breaking a lot of new ground. Beatwise or with the vocals.

Clipse seem to bring the best out of the Neptunes. They may spend half of their time rhyming about coke, but they flow pretty sick. And they're actually pushing things forward with their sound whereas LB's kinda rehashing old ones and playing it safe.

it's the coke and hustling rhymes that put me off, thats not really breaking new ground you know ?

i've never been a massive neptunes fan though either

i know what you're saying about LB but i'm a big fan of 9th's beats

This all fits pretty neatly under the Mainstream vs Underground summary:

Mainstream rappers brag about things they do/used to do or things they have/want while underground rappers complain about mainstream rappers and do their best to go the complete opposite direction, yet sometimes end up spitting about things that are twice as ignorant.

I can definitely appreciate Phonte as an emcee, but Pooh is sorta like his Big Boi circa 1994 and drags them down a bit. And 9th's beats can be dope, but they get a little too generic after awhile.

horses for courses i guess Mick

i don't have a problem with the mainstream. If i like it i like it. Re 9th's beats I'm a sucker for soul samples so i could quite happily listen to them all day.

Clipse just never did it for me really, grinding was quality, but other than that it was just meh for me

'Me Too' has one of the most original beats of the last 5 years or more. And it's just pure hip hop. No R&B/Soul/Rock samples. It reminds me why I even started listening to rap.

But yeah, to each his own.

tell you what, why don't you hook me up with something for once and i'll check it out ? Also, what did you mean by pure hip hop but with no samples ? Is it like electro or those rick rubin 808 jams ??

(disclaimer: my knowledge of the clipse is fairly limited, so for all i know they could be the best hip hop group of the last ten years, it's just from the few tracks i've heard that sounded like a bit of a reach)

Clipse is by far the hottest shit out.

Everything they spit is fire.

Im guessing you have the "We got it for Cheap" vol.1 and 2. And the "We got the Remix" (mixtapes obvi). If you dont, do yourself a favor and get them. Both are sick.

Clipse beats are hard as fuck, and yea they rhyme about coke and shit but whatever the way they sound is not the same old shit. They dont sing or hum chrorus' like the rest of the pussy rappers out there today. Plus they are creative with their shit, the rhymes are really good if you listen to em.

I got the "Hell Hath No Fury" 3 years ago, its gotta be a different album by now. But im hoping the shit comes out sometime soon.

The crack metaphors and similes are insane. Now you have every little bitch saying "I got them rocks in my trunk" or some simple stuff like that. Hell Hath No Fury should blow some fools out of the water.

It's off the new album, apparently.

It's not their best song by far, but a bad Clipse song is still equal to if not superior to most of the shit out there.
