I just saw this and have to tell you about it because it's probably the best movie I've seen in hours, maybe even day. You like cults? You like Nic Cage? You like bear suit? You like grotesquely big lips and freakishly large eyes? You like annoying, earthy, indirect-answer-giving bitches? Maybe then you like wicker man. It's ridiculous and stupid and it's full of plot holes and meaningless actions but it's awesome. Tidbits ahead.

"aahhh my legs!"

"Killing me won't bring back your goddamn honey!"

"bitches! YOU BITCHES!"

Isn't there a few different versions of this movie?

Yeah but don't bother seeing that old 70s flick. Nic cage in a bear suit kung fu kicking some hippies is all the wicker you need.

That movie disturbed me when I was little. And I'm pretty sure I saw the edited for television version too.

The original is an excellent film. I haven't seen the new one yet, i plan to though. I don't know much about it but isn't the character of Lord Summerisle played by a women in the remake?

I just saw the original. that was some wierd 70's euopean shit right there. I liked it but I would have cut out some of the singing parts (mainly just that aweful maypole song.) and the end was awesome. also, Lord Summersile was FUNNY.(y)

cop dude: "But they are NAKED!"
Lord Summersile: "well yes it's a bit hard to jump through the fire with your clothes on don't you think?"

but after seeing the original, it's kinda hard to imagine what modern hollywood will do with the story line. I'm thinking they'll change it up quite a bit.

actually if you rent it on DVD now it comes with a "making of" extra. and they talk about how they came up with the design of the wicker man. He was gonna have a face but then they though it was mor ominious if he had no expression.

it was kinda funny all the actors and director and stuff were very self-congratulatory over thier work on the film. hee hee. did you know christopher lee didd the film for free? he didn't get paid and he sure lets ya know, that he scarificed his wages because he "beleived in the project." lol.

He said in an interview a couple of years ago that he thought his best role was Lord Summerisle

It's the worst remake I've ever seen. It's a travesty because the original is such a classic.
