this has to do with a less than anticipated demand last summer? oil drilling or new oil discovered? saudi price drop? which is it?

what is funny is that the actual oil that they found down there won't be there for a few years

FINALLY I CAN PUT SOME MONEY DOWN ON THE NEW HUMMER H8 (http://www.hummerh8.com/)
i remember reading about a similar reserve in colorado. i think it involves and different type of experimental excavation tho.

i was happy that prices were so high. its seems that economics pushed the manufacturing of fuel efficient vehicles to levels that experts claimed were a long time away, just a few years ago. gas prices went up, and boom we had all these hybrids come to market. it kind of makes me sad actually because i thought we were on our way to a cleaner automotive world. lower gas prices will mean people will be less likely to spend more money on a hybrid/alternative fueled vehicle which = status quo.

Yeah but even worse than that you can't make small talk with strangers in public anymore like "Hey can you believe these gas prices buddy?" that's the real tragedy here
they found more oil??!?! WE'RE SAVED
LET'S DANCE IN THE STREETS EVERYBODY, THE OIL CRISIS IS OVER, WE FOUND A LITTLE MORE
i am so happy right now
i think the prices have dropped drastically here too, but i haven't been driving, so i haven't noticed

I dunno why the prices are such an issue....its not like you can choose to buy it or not....you cant be like "damn its $3 a gallon today so i wont get gas and stay home for a week"

It won't lower oil prices for a while, though.
I filled up at 2.53, which is still sucky but better than 3.03, that's for sure. I drive a hell of a lot less now and use the Metro everyday...which is MORE expensive than gas, but at least I don't have to drive as much and I'm doing my part to use less resources.

the gas in INDIANA where the prices are normally lower then most other places, was going for about $3.80 or so a gallon, and now it's drastically dropped to around $2. It's really nice. I dont really care what made it drop, im just glad it dropped, and I hope the price stays at $2 bucks or less a gallon till the day I die. (y)

the election made it drop, and unless you plan on dying before 2007, it'll be back up to 3 dollars a gallon.

yeah, thats what i said in my first post....
in the next 20 years, the US is projected to essentially double is oil demands, and not produce any more than it does already. so we are in for a long ride

hybrid vehicles are a waste of time.
diesels use less fuel than hybrids. The jaguar diesel v8, as tested on top gear, used less fuel than a toyota prius. and at least u can hear the jag coming before it runs u over! the hybrid fad will die within 5 years. i feel sorry for anyone who has bought one. they will be fuckin expensive to repair, and impossible to on sell.

Ok. try the WASHING POST article. (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/09/05/AR2006090500275_pf.html)
Or CNN's money site. (http://money.cnn.com/2006/09/05/news/companies/chevron.reut/index.htm)
It should be questionable that this hadn't been "discovered" until recently, really. I think it's been known about for a long time. I hear from sources (uncredible, of course) that a geologist let the info leak and the oil companies decided to make an announcement to beat the "buzz" to the punch. Um, yeah. there's a guy I know who fought in Vietnam, from an army family, and is dead set on knowing that the US is draining other countries' oil to get a monopoly on it in the far distant future. But they have our money now.
But I think it's all really related to the election. Republicans will be like, "Yay w3 g0t t3h gazoline down! D3/\/\0kr4tz gonna tax u rofflez!"
This should have gone in the Political discussion... but whatevs.

In Vegas, I saw it for $2.48 today. It's like $2.71 3 miles south of there though.
You put that face there like the government isn't into siphoning the money from it's middle class.
My bad... um, depends on how high traffic/rich each neighborhood is. And if they got a more expensive shipment of fuel. Details, details.

yeah, thats what i said in my first post....
Well if I read your posts, then I'd know that obviously.
But yeah, it's weird to see how drastic things change in only a few years. When I was RazorbladeKiss's age, I was thinking that $1.45 was RIDICULOUS because I remembered getting it for $0.99 - $1.10. A $0.35 increase was outrageous. When it got to $1.67 a few years ago, I nearly shat myself. Now people are saying $2.00 is "nice." A few more years, we'll think $4.25 is quite the deal.
Yeah, you think about how much it costed to pump gas in the 60's. Then you think about the price going up nearly 300% in six years. GO USAAAAA!!!

I already feel like my grandfather, telling 15 year olds that I remember when it was less than a dollar for gas! :o :( (n)
