While I don't recommend the movie exactly, I enjoyed it. My favorite thing is when movies create a world that I don't usually see. This one did. I grew up in the 70s but not near an ocean and I didn't skateboard. But my pals and I biked all over with no supervision and did a lot of stupid/crazy stuff. I'm a little younger than the kids in this but it really captured the feeling of being an unfocused kid in the 70s.

The acting was amazing. All around.

I can't recommend the movie because the story arc was unsatisfying for me. I know it's based on reality so I guess they had to follow that. I also wondered whether the Peralta (sp?) character would have been less of a goody two shoes if he hadn't written the movie. I wonder whether the other guys saw the movie and thought he cleaned up his character.

I stand by that review from a year ago.

I loved this movie. Really I did. I didnt think it was going to be that good (which is weird for me because I love skate video's, but I like the real videos') so I didnt watch it for a long time. Then one night I saw it on HBO and said what the hell and watched it, and I freakin love it (y)

I thought it was alright. 'Dogtown and Z-Boys' was better, though.

Yes (agreeing with Scotty), if you love the real videos, have you seen Dogtown and Z Boys -- the documentary the movie was based on? It has Henry Rollins in it but it's still worth seeing. The first half is really good.

Yeah I've seen it. Im really into skate video's. i've got a few Adio tapes, and Bam/Tony Hawk/Mike V tapes and what not. I've got a few skate tours on DVD. I've been big into skating for a long time now.
I just didnt think I'd be that intrested in this, but It turned out I was.

Yeah, I've been wanting to watch it as well. I'm trying to think of some of the Dogtown team but I'm drawing a blank. From what I remember of them, they were like team Alva.

Man, they had some decent decks too. I suppose they're not in production anymore either.

the kid who plays alva in that movie is a shitty actor and he doesn't even look like him at all and it made me mad because he's my favorite.

and that movie is entertaining, but it's a horrible piece of shit. laughable even.

the documentary is good though.

Movie is alright man. Yeah, the documentary is better, but to have Hollywood put out an adaptation of one of my favourite stories is still pretty cool.
