because i have to leave my judge and move into another judge's division. when i told my judge today, i had to turn away because i was about to cry. when i turned back, he was wiping away a tear. he told me he was very sad, and said it was truly his loss. then twice, on the record, he said "this really sucks." later he asked who was replacing me, and i told him they were replacing me with 2 guys, because it takes 2 men to do the job of 1 woman (they really are replacing me with 2 dudes). his judicial assistant emailed me later to tell me how sad the judge is, and that i was the best pd he's ever had in his courtroom.

so, i'm moving on from crackheads in possession of coke to armed robbers, rapists (not for 2 months or so), and my newly assigned case with an alleged mafia dude charged under rico (i'm hoping he has me because the feds froze his accounts; i'm also hoping it's not a "win, or else" type situation).

You've been assigned to the mafia?

Well, good luck with that missy!

in 2 weeks you'll forget all about the old spot. you'll rock the place, kick ass and in 2 years you'll move on to something even better, leaving the original place as a very distant memory. no worries

It sucks leaving cool people you enjoy working with but rock on for the promotion. Someone has some skillz apparently!

you could have turned down the promotion if you wanted to...or did they make you an offer you couldn't refuse (LOL mafia joke)?

seriously though, how honestly worried are you about getting whacked if you lose? were you just joking, or is that like, a real concern?

i'm not truly worried about getting whacked. and for real, what kind of mafia dude can't hire his own attorney? a low-level one, that's who.

you sorta can't refuse promotions at work. they'll punish you and send your ass to the jail to do initial appearances.

Congratulations! I'm sure it will be good for you and that you will be good at it. I hope that it won't take too much out of you emotionally. You really seem to have a good head on your shoulders and keep a healthy balance. It's probably going to suck when you watch your clients go away on longer and longer sentences. At least you won't have any death penalty cases yet (I hope).

You're clearly great at what you do. I expect that you're going to hit private practice and we're going to see you on national TV some day. :)

i forgot to thank everyone earlier. :o thanks everyone. :)

documad, i'm sorta thinking if people see me on tv, it'll be a clip on the evening news where i'm ripping nancy grace's hair out. man i can't stand that bitch.

no death penalty cases for me for quite a long time. i don't think i'll have any dead body cases for at least a year (at least i hope not). the lead in my division is constantly on the news, and they're always leaving him messages asking what cases he has going on. he has big plans on sticking me as second chair in some of his high profile ones, so i may very well accidentally end up on the news without a clump of nancy's hair.
