i've just served (no, not in that way) two canadians in a row and i must say i was super impressed with their politeness, aesthetic qualities and, um, accent.
(i'm working at the library ALL of this weekend, next weekend, and the weekend after that so let's just say i am incredibly bored and this is going to be my official library boredom thread. feel free to add your comments on canadians, sexy men, libraries, or anything else for that matter)
one was from severn bridge, ontario.
the other was from elora, ontario.
i could give the exact names and addresses but then.. i would lose my job.
you have postcodes which look remarkable like ours.
that is all.
hi everyone!

Libraries are useful when not wanting to spend a billion in change management books.

I'm not in a library, but I might visit one later.
But I am at school, in a lab, on a Saturday.
I'm too lazy to start my own thread, so I will just mooch off of this one.
I'd also like to mention that it is very, very cold in here.

I've been to the library before, and once I borrowed a book about dinosaurs.
There is a big Canadian at my work, and he is really loud.

I just returned from the library. I even checked out a book. However, there were no sexy Canadians involved in the process.

i'm back in la bibliotheque this beautiful sunday morning!
i just had a super fit of the giggles..
libraries are big on statistics. very big. you have to record how many enquiries you have each day, books checked in, books checked out, fines, missing books, etc etc etc. my colleague just told me he is reading a librarian's blog and his library made people record when they go to the toilet - because apparently one time someone did a "massive turd" and it caused LIBRARY CHAOS! - so there you go. something about the term "massive turd" always makes me giggle uncontrollably.
libraries are great places for the best eccentrics in the world - both staff wise and student wise.
pauli, i work in a library and i'm trained in library skills etc but i'm not a "librarian" - you have to train for five years or so to be one of those immafraid!

I work in a library too. I'm such a nerd man. I get excited from learning how to enter books into the system. :(
Only, what she said also applies:

We call 'em Postal Codes, but yeah, they always freak out Americans since they're not Zip Codes.

oh, you work in a library too? that is cool. high five! do you work in a public library or a university or "other" one? i work at glasgow university library - "one of the greatest academic libraries in europe". yeah, and one with some ker-azy patrons. i sorta heart public libraries though, too. i'm definitely not one of those library snobs. i think it's awesome the general public can just swan in and use the t'internet and get books out and extend their knowledge and all sorta thangs.
one guy i served yesterday had all his library "tickets" from 1955 for GUL! it was so awesome. he was explaining that back in the day he just had to hand his ticket in and the subject librarians would actually go and, uh, fetch his books. fetch! god, a student would get slapped if they expected us to go and find their books nowdays, tehehe.
today we finished work doing quizzes on star trek and red dwarf.
patron of the day was a girl from syracuse, new york. we talked about a book i was reading and my obsession with dr pepper lip balm. awesome.

I work in an "other" one...for a library for a branch of the government. All I know is that if you have to interlibrary loan your books, our name will come up when applicable. I don't have much contact with the outside public, though. We're private as of now, but we're trying to become open to the public...and the overhauling is SO much work!
It's nerdy fun though. Sometimes researching materials for people is like a nerdy treasure hunt and I feel so accomplished when I find what they want. :o

I may still become a librarian, the world needs more librarians with science degrees because I could never ask the librarians at my university for any help when I was doing research papers because they could not even spell half the words that came out of my mouth to even type them into a search engine
