View Full Version : how do you pronounce "Zebra"?
The Notorious LOL

the correct US pronounciation of it is "Zee-brah" but sometimes I hear people in those Moon Man countries that speak space English that say "Zeb-rah". I usually avoid confusion and say "fancy striped horse"

One thing about a language that is spoken as a first-language for a lot of countries is that you're going to get a lot of variations and regionalisms throughout. That's natural and expected. When you think of it, it's actually kind of weird how much the UK has a problem with US usage and pronunciation and vice versa.
Spanish is spoken in a LOT of countries too, and there are differences between Spain and Latin American usage (not to mention Argentina is different from the rest of Latin America). If we went on a Spanish forum would everyone in Latin America be laughing at the Spaniards because they use "vosotros" and then the guys in Spain get all pompous and go "you know Spanish was created in SPAIN"?
