more of the same old crap! He should seriously just retire and retain what he once had in the sense of "credibility" and "artistic integrity"

I guess Guero wasn't very well received, (at least here) but I liked it. If The Information is going to be similar to the last one, then I'll probably like this one too.

I've got it on right now. It's not a quick fix of musical entertainment like some of the tracks on guero (e-pro), you need to bear with it, the songs draw out but it's worth it. it's really consistent and still unlike anything i've heard him do.

i'd give it 4 out of 5.

Beck is just one of those artists for me that I'll always be behind. "Odelay" essentially shaped my taste in music seeing as how it was the first cd I went out and bought with my own money. I liked Guero, but it's at the bottom of my list. Midnite Vultures is his untoppable masterpiece in my opinion. I'll admit that his songwriting has become what I never thought Beck songwriting would become- predictable, but like I said, I'll buy Beck records til he stops making them.

Okay everyone can remove Becks balls from their hands now!

Everything he did after Odelay was trash. Mutations sucked, Midnite Vultures is trash, Guero is some "look at me trying to do Odelay again but Im old and live in a mansion" shit, and this album is more of the same bullshit. Notice I didnt include his faggy emo record about breakups because it doesnt even warrant a recognition as a real album.

The gangsta ass Beck stuff is One Foot In The Grave and Mellow Gold. Just listen to that repeatedly and realize that everything else he did post that sucks a huge cyst covered scrotum in comparison.

actually fuck that, Id rather listen to Golden Feelings than most of his new stuff and that crap is him recording shitty demos after huffing glue in an abandoned shack near the trainyard.

Word.

One of the odd things about this one is that he doesn't stick to the "nonsense" or "personal" themes with his lyrics, they seem to go back and forth. It's like he wanted to go back and make what Mutations was to Odelay, but didn't want to give up the more hip-hop influences he used with Guero.

The new album, upon my first few listens, isn't bad. Very eery, even for a Beck album...

Also, the DVD it comes with is great, some of the weirdest music videos I've ever seen...

My favorites so far are "No Complaints", "1000 BPM", "Dark Star" and "Nausea".

Stickers are very cool too... (y)

I read my girlfriend's (honest) Heat magazine earlier and they've given it 5 stars out of 5.

I know it won't be that good. Guero got pretty mediocre after repeated listens and from the song I've heard from his new album it's no different.

Got to check out this album today at a Wherehouse store. They let me check out the dvd on one of their portable players (the CD was playing over the store's P.A. system).

Though based on hearing only four tracks, the music seems pretty cool to me. :tu: I already like those songs better than what's on Guero. One track had what sounded like effects from a $50 Casio keyboard I used to own, & i mean that in a good way. :D

I watched three of the videos - trippy/artsy stuff! Lots of groovy 60s-ish psychedelic effects. But it looked like Beck let 80s videos & fashions influence them too. All in all, definitely fun to watch.

btw: both the CD and dvd were embossed with their respective titles. It gives the otherwise plain/colorless surface an interesting look I've never seen before (the letters end up having a sort of mirrored/glittery look). Though this being a Beck album I'm not suprised.

I actually really enjoyed listening to and watching this album... Last night I threw on my headphones, and popped it in the computer, and just sat back and enjoyed the ride.... The music is verry pshycadellic, as is the DVD... There is alot of shit going on in this album... A verry good follow up to Guero, in my opinion.....

Wow, so each set of stickers are different for each album. I didn't know that. No wonder Deep Sea Rain's stickers looked different than mine. I'll take pictures of my completed booklet, with most of the stickers on there. It looks quite bizarre. What's neat, is that there is a visual sticker to each song title, as shown on the stickers Beck posted.

As for the album itself, I haven't been listening to it much, but some of my favorites are Dark Star, Cellphone's Dead, Nausea, Soldier Jane, and Think I'm In Love. I have yet to check out that DVD with music videos to all the songs on The Information.

Nice arrangement, Films...

There are supposedly four different sticker sets. I don't think there is a way to tell externally which one you'll get...

Also here is the back (http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/Bluemetroid/beck2.jpg) of my album (I don't think your supposed to put stickers on the paper back there, but I did anyway), the back (http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/Bluemetroid/beck3.jpg) of the leaflet, and the left (http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/Bluemetroid/beck5.jpg) and right (http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/Bluemetroid/beck4.jpg) sides of inside the leaflet.

I overlapped stickers in some places to make stranger images...

when I first bought it I wasn't too sure but now I think it might be one of his best ever. it feels much more cohesive than Guero. these songs sound like they belong together.

hey, check this out:

apparently, the packaging disqualifies the album from inclusion on the UK charts next week as they've deemed that it gives the album an "unfair advantage".

According to a couple guys here (http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htf/showthread.php?p=2986251#post2986251), if the CD is bought at Target or Best Buy, you get access to a free download for a track called "This Girl That I Know" (though it does come with some form of DRM).

Oh yeah, and with two albums so close together and the extensive touring, I hope Mr. Hansen doesn't decide to take a long break after this...
