Well a shovel wouldnt float.... Unless it was made entirely from wood which would make the "breaking hard ground up to dig a grave" quite tricky and would probably result in splinters...

Nah they just shove your coffined arse off a boat into the sea.

I guess the coffins are weighed down... Though I think your dead body would probably do as an "anchor"...

"Sleeping with the fishes" and all that...

i was talking to someone about this.... their sister in law was about to have a baby and they wanted to name him gus. that's the coolest name - everyone loves a gus. "hey look everyone, here comes big gus! he brought a 12 pack!"

you dont need a coffin have them folded up and put into a smaller hole sized in some frozen region of the world. The dead are preserved and millions of years from now someone will find it and re-make, what to the future people will be, a neanderthal.

Heheh my "right" name is Angus. It's the Scottish see... I hated it when I was younger but love it now I'm older.

I'm universally known as "Gus" though, everyone from family to friends. Wherever I go I usually pack a crate (24 pack) or some seriously crazy fortified wine like Buckfast...

..could have been worse could have been born "Augustus"..

On the getting buried at Sea thing - it's hugely expensive seemingly - according to the film "Twin Town".

Get the Costco Card (http://www.costco.com/Common/Category.aspx?ec=&pos=2&whse=BC&topnav=&cat=20596&eCat=BC|20595|20596)out, then hit Michael's for some flair.

If the person is being cremated, I'd definitely go for -

http://www.forestlawn.com/funerals_cremation/product_detail.asp?ProdType=6&product_id=15465

And even if they're not, you can get some good pine boxes.

Although, it comes down to what the person would have wanted. Would they have wanted you spend that much, or would they have rathered you donated it somewhere or bought yourself something nice?
