Born on December 1, 1940 in Peoria, Illinois, Richard Pryor grew up in his grandmother's brothel, where his mother Gertude practiced prostitution. His father LeRoy Pryor (a.k.a. Buck Carter) was a former bartender, boxer, and World War II veteran who worked as his wife's pimp. After his mother deserted him when he was 10, he was raised primarily by his grandmother, Marie Carter. As a small child, Pryor was molested by a neighbor and another time by a Catholic priest.[2]

I've heard the brothel part and that he had a rough childhood. I'm sure that's true. I never heard about the priest.

I wouldn't believe everything he said about his life in interviews, because he was always bit unstable and he would go and cry on the old Geraldo show with his ex-wife and say a lot of dumb things.

One of the funniest things I ever saw was a booth full of drunk idiots at an all-night restaurant telling Richard Prior jokes and doing Richard Pryor impressions shortly after he set himself on fire. I didn't want to laugh and encourage them but I couldn't help it.

I was just channel hopping and came across the sci-fi channel where Richard Pryor appeared in Superman 3. I don't think he gets molested in it though

thats the whole point of wikipedia... its an encyclopedia made by the users.
