Seriously, this film rules more than anything...

Some classic bits of dialogue..

Teasle: Whatever possessed God in heaven to make a man like Rambo?
Trautman: God didn't make Rambo. I made him!

or

Teasle: Are you telling me that 200 of our men against your boy is a no-win situation for us?
Trautman: You send that many, don't forget one thing.
Teasle: What?
Trautman: A good supply of body bags.

Fantastic.

In the book he actually kills some cops. Intentionally.

such a fine film can only be based on a piece of classic literature.

True.

Rambo's final monologue/rant is a harrowing commentary on the effects of war. Some would say the most explosive scene in the film.... Not me tho, the petrol station blowing the fuck up is.

Of course Dred would mock it. ;)

First Blood was a great book and a great movie.

The scene where he's holding down all the National Guard troops outside the mineshaft and none of them want to go "into that hole." : CLASSIC.

Also, when he's flashing back to being tortured in Nam while Teasle's deputy is "torturing" him and David Caruso is coming to shave him....

A haircut would have been much more practical than a headband.

G'head. Call me Sop the Sap. But I'm always drawn into Stallone's movies First Blood and Rocky I and II. I can't help but feel for the Rambo/Rocky characters.

That's where his power comes from. If he cuts he will run out of bullets!

They've been playing Rocky and Rambo movies the last few days here. Did you notice that? When I check out my Sky preview guide they are usually playing at the same time.

What about psychotic Vietnam-flashback vets?

Fathers OK for them?

I haven't actually taken the time to read it, no.

My one-time kung fu instructor played the VC commander in the movie, though.

In the first one he was vulnerable. Next two he just went bananas. Killing is his therapy.

The first one is a good film though.

No. They only need the teet of their commanding officer to drink from.

There was an old cinema where I grew up where, aged about 13, I could sneak into "older rated" films - well - not sneak in they just let me in.

I'm pretty sure First Blood was a "15" rating over here when it came out, cause I never got into 18's at that age.

Anyway by the time he was disembowling them in the woods with pointy sticks and sewing himself up after falling off rocks....

..I was pretty much so scared I had nightmares for weeks. The cinema was only 5 minutes walk from my house but I was sure some guy in a headband was going to disembowl me with a home made "stick with big knife taped tot he end..."

I don't know that I'd want to drink from that teat...ewwwww.

Richard Crenna ain't all that.

Rambo in First Blood : (y)

Rambo in Rambo:First Blood Part III : (n)

II was a'ight : the part where he fires that arrow at the Vietcong commander and it impacts, then blows him all up : that's fine cinema, there....I tell you what.
