View Full Version : Advice for people who make stupid faces while they're dancing

A lot of people don't really know how ridiculous their faces look when they dance. Which is fine, since I guess you shouldn't really care. Unless you're competing or you have an actual audience or something...or if everybody's just really too drunk to notice. If you're single, frequent clubs often and find yourself striking out a lot, you might wanna consider what kind of faces you're making when you dance. It's important to not look like you're concentrating too hard when you dance, though. So be aware of it, but don't start forcing yourself to make cool faces. It'll just mess with you. I also think it's best to not look like you're stressed out. Or like you're in pain. Or like you're having sex with yourself....unless you're a chick. And you're really hot. I think it helps to be talking to someone, or maybe just smiling a little or something. After a while it'll start to come more naturally. Some things you should sorta try to avoid:

-biting your bottom lip
-looking surprised
-snarling
-closing your eyes for lengthy periods
-tongue poking out the side of your mouth
-flared nostrils
-sex faces ( unless you're a chick...and you're really hot)

Man, you should have seen the UK rave scene 91-98 for "gurning on the dancefloor"...

People were chewing their own faces off after falling into a "k-hole"....

I think this thread should be moved to sure shots with examples.

Fuck the very thought of me digging out old pictures of me and my friends with our "rave faces" on fills me with dread...

*edit*

A search for "Helter Skelter Rave" on Youtube brought up these images from 1998....

I've seen much worse than that actually. And at least those majority of those people are on drugs.

-biting your bottom lip

...after seeing the trailer for Hitch back in the day, I was sure that this was the one funny moment in the whole movie.

Maybe I'm just cynical. :)

Yeah the majority of these people are definately on drugs...

I was at that actually, I'd say "happy times" but I remember none of it at all...

So.. let me get this straight.. People pull worse "gurns" than that on... Alcohol??! 'The fuck?!!

Well, if you're doing it to be funny, then be my guest. Btw, the Saturday Night Fever pointing move...not so funny.

Yeah, see, while the athletic, sporty rugby-playing types in the UK/Europe are more inclined to just get all affectionate with one another, put their arms around their best mates and start singing sea chanties together and whatnot, the jocks/frat boys on this side of the pond are a lot more fond of "dancing" when they're drunk. Or teabagging eachother.

Heheh, amusing but, no, there's no sea shanty singing going on here, hasnt been for a couple of centuries now unless you go to the Outer Hebridies or The Western Isles.

people here pull funny faces in "normal just drunk people Friday and Saturday nightclubs".

Not to rave gurning levels though...

No...

I really don't know what drunk Brits traditionally sing in pubs and at "futbol" matches, to be honest. I figure that a lot of it must be God Save The Queen or old Pogues tunes, or something along those lines.

You're not single anyway. If your significant other can accept you for your ridiculous dance faces, who cares what anyone else thinks?

you sure are opinionated on dancing, Mickill. Maybe you should get a purse and a subscription to Cosmo as well.

so what kind of face are you SUPPOSED to make while dancing.

I don't really dance unless I'm really drunk so I don't remember what kind of faces I make or don't really pay attention. I just want to know so I can look cool and stuff.

But I do do (haha doo doo) the eyes closed listening to some bands play when i get sucked into the music all the time. Sometimes people ask me where the smack is at. And I just tell them I just spiked it all minutes ago in the bathroom.

GOOD ONE!

I'm surprised you didn't just chime in with "dancing is for fags" or something equally witty.

That's sort of up to you to decide for yourself, I'm afraid. Maybe just look really mad. Or give the crazy eye to people.

And I understand why you feel as though YOU fit the archetype of a true man, sitting there stroking your kitty cat until the wee hours, watching the Golden Girls Season 3 on DVD. YEAH OKAY WHATEVER YOU SAY MAN.

people who suck at dancing should still have their fun. but people that make horrific faces while sucking at dancing are inexcusable.
