Some (slang) words mean something much different than they sound

...like "chuffed." Man, "chuffed" sounds fairly bad' maybe because it sounds enough like "chafed." But I think "chuffed" means something pretty positive.

And the English "pissed" (drunk) is frightening to us Americans until we get the hang of it. I heard that from an exchange student, crashing at my house. Him and me, about 16 years old, drinking vodka and smoking cigarettes, and he just kept saying "I'm getting soooo pissed!" and I got kind of quiet because I couldn't figure out what was making him so mad.

I cant get over how a "fanny" is an "arse" in the US.
