View Full Version : is it ok to talk on a cell phone in a public bathroom?

Dear Miss Manners:

What's the etiqute for cell phones in public bathrooms? Sometimes the only peace and quiet I can get at work is on the 2nd floor public bathroom. Most of the time I'm the only one in there anyway but yesterday a woman came in just as I was wraping up a call and getting ready to leave. and she calls out to me from her stall (incert total bitch tone of voice here..) "ARE you on your CELL PHONE in here?" and I said "YES". She didn't say anything else but I felt her tone in the intial question expressed her disgust with me.

I say what does she care? if the person I'm talking to on the phone doesn't care if I'm in the bathroom, why should she care? I'm sorry is the sound of another's person's voice having a one sided conversation really going to disrupt her ability to squeeze one out? I just don't see anything wrong with using my phone in the bathroom.

Just so long as 1. Your farts dont echo through the stall walls and into the ear of the person on the other line. 2. if anyone else is in the bathroom, make sure that they know your on the phone, and not talking to them (other potty-goer). Things could get confusing-awkward.

Even better if they can hear the sound of the logs falling in the toilet!

That bicht was just jealous because she dont have good friend like that!

my dad always tells the story when he was at a public restroom (i forgot where though) and this guy in another stall was talking to him about going to dinner or something and he was like oh no i'm busy, and they kept some kind of conversation going from there and the other guy finally was like sorry mom i gotta call you back, this other guy in the bathroom won't stop talking to me :confused: :rolleyes:

if I hear someone on the cell in a public restroom, I intentionally flush the toilet several times.

cell phones in the bathroom are annoying as fuck. don't do it. i dunno how bitchy that lady sounded but it couldn't have been bitchy enough because you don't seem to feel bad about it.

it's like if you're in the bathroom and the person next to you starts whistling or singing or talking to himself or something. yes, it's annoying, stop. wait till you get out.

Hahaha...I picked up my cell when I was drunk as hell and peeing. I thought it was so funny that I picked up that I just started laughing, and laughing so hard I couldn't say anything. So I hung up. I think my friend was really confused, what with the echoing sounds of pee and laughter right before she got cut off.
