Carter Burwell is probably my favorite among the contemporary folks (esp. Miller's Crossing and Fargo).

Randy Newman can be great (Avalon, Pleasantville, Toy Story, Ragtime).

Howard Shore is hit or miss, but I like Dead Ringers, Naked Lunch, and [Cronenberg's] Crash.

Brian Eno has done a couple - I watched the jacket today and thats him, there is a really nice tune at the end then it goes into a cover of "We have all the time in the world" by Iggy Pop. Odd film though

Soderbergh used one of his pieces at the very end of Traffic, too. He was telling Cliff Martinez "make it sound like THIS" and Cliff did a rip-off and they finally just laughed it off and used the Eno track.


But... yeah... he and Toto did the soundtrack to Dune, right?
