the second video track (from when they first came out) is 3-5 songs, its too big to put on youtube. im pissed b/c its good shit. i dont have any software, so i left it out.

here's the rest. i think youtube cuts down the resolution, so they're not quite as crisp as the originals.

i recorded the close up shit and yr did the farther away crap. i handed the cam to him when someone asked me to stop. they might still be processing, so you might not be able to see them all for a few minutes..

OK, I've watched the taping of the show and it turned out even better than I expected. It is very still and I got them all on the screen in most of the taping(unless I zoomed in on them). It came out really good, and I burned it on DVD.

I don't know. Something about that doesn't sit right. It's one thing to go into a venue that allows recording devices, record a show, and distribute it freely to the fans. Many performers explicitly allow this - such as Pearl Jam and Dave Matthews Band.

However, distributing it to make a profit is a whole different story. Unless you have permission granted by the band (and in most cases, agree to pay royalties, though it's at their discretion), it's a bootleg, and it's copyright infringement. If they feel like pursuing it, they could sue. It's no different than playing a new Beastie Boy CD out of your home stereo, sitting next to it with a high quality audio recording device, and then selling it on the streets as "The New Beastie Boys CD". Just because the audio recording device is allowed in your room, doesn't mean you can do whatever you want with what you capture on it.

The fact that this was a charity event that the Beastie Boys made no profit on themselves makes it even more unnerving. People paid $50 to see the Beastie Boys - they gave up their own time to put on a show and contributed all of their profit to the cause. You're charging $30 for sitting there and videotaping their generosity.(n)

I say ONE of us buys this DVD and then distributes the hell out of it, offering it for the price of shipping and the blank DVD to message board members or anyone who wishes to enjoy the experience.

That or we allow beastieboys.com to sell it for $5 and give all proceeds to the cause that the show SHOULD be benefiting.
