I love this time of year because there are so many fun things to do in my shitty little town...
Tomorrow I'm taking Aiedyn to The Brushy Mountain Apple Festival (http://www.applefestival.net/index.asp), which takes place a few miles from my apt. They have crap like gospel singers, bluegrass, etc, but the vendors always have cool things to look at, and CANDY APPLES! Oh, yes. And cotton candy. OMG!
Oh..and I swear the BEST BBQ chicken ever comes in a styrofoam box with baked beans, a roll, potato salad or coleslaw, and a little cake of sorts. You know, the kind you buy on the side of the road from a church group or Boy scouts. Yeah..they will have that too. And loud as hell pop guns made of wood that drive me nuts.
Then as the month goes on, there will be haunted houses, random fall festivals thrown by schools, the local YMCA etc. with pumpkin carving contests, bobbing for apples and cake walks. Oh! HAY RIDES! I can't leave those bitches out.
Our town also has a huge trick-or-treat trail that covers both of our downtown districts. It's like candy heaven.
And don't get me started on the fair and funnel cakes.
Sometimes I kind of dig the small town country life.
