I gotta say: I did like it a LOT better when "The Beatles" was embossed rather than printed. Printing the name on there really destroys the concept, I think. Infinitely worse than the versions of Sticky Fingers where it's just a printed photo without a working zipper.

The "thumbs up" Warren is doing would kill that notion, even if the Fairground Rock Player bassist pose behind him hadn't, already.

Album's amazing. Maybe the best batch of songs Lou ever wrote, "The Murder Mystery" notwithstanding.

I think if it had been "The Joe Smith Group" we'd see it as really cheap (not "good" cheap -- just cheap and quarter-assed). The back cover has varied (and it's not what we're talking about here), but that "trippy" version with Lou split in half and inverted, etc. is truly awful.

Nah. It's a stupid pun on the album title, worthy of some Kinky Friedman LP or some sorta 2,000-copy local gospel release. Plus -- like a bunch of Beach Boys promo pics -- most of the guys look noticably awkward doing what's required of them. It's like: if Olan Mills studios did album covers, they probably would've turned in stuff almost exactly like this.

This was done on purpose. Part of the viral marketing/Alternate Reality Game. The back of the case is done very well though.

Not to deviate too much but this is an extremely nice package for a so-so single. Picture disc in a compelling package with multiple rare ass figurines. If Paul Jones liked UNKLE he would have shit a Millennium Falcon. Worth $160? The single isn't so great but damn... just look.
