PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (Reuters) -- One of the girls who died in Pennsylvania's Amish schoolhouse massacre asked the killer to shoot her first in an apparent bid to save the younger girls, a woman who spoke to the victim's family said Friday.

The article quotes an Amish woman as saying, "God was really present to give the girls that kind of courage."
Call me a heathen, but if God was present, maybe he should have smitten the psychopath with the gun instead??

Something gave those girls courage...(!)

she shouldve used her amish kung fu to disarm that killer instead of just asking him politely to kill her first

flight or fight - its human instinct.

flight or fight - its human instinct.

They did neither:confused:
They had their faith and whether it is the right faith or the wrong faith, it's what kept them brave.(!)

ok i thought you meant like a higher force handed them a plate of courage.
they might have found the courage within themselves.

i was saying that in a terrible situation, you can be the victim (flight) or stand strong (fight).

That very well may have happened.

I'm still trying to figure out how asking to be killed first helps the others. Like seriously I'm not trying to be a dick but that just doesn't make sense to me.

Dude she was only 13... since when do MOST 13 year olds make sense... especially in a stressful situation like that?

True...but I'm just saying that it doesn't make sense to me, obviously it must to someone say the person who wrote the article. So please splain...I mean it would be one thing if she was like "Let the others go and you can do whatever you want to me" or something like that. They should start teaching Hostage Negotiations at a younger age

You know what!!!?!? Your hatred of the Amish is obvious AND well documented! Why do you cut them some slack for ONCE!

This has NOTHING to do with my anti-Amish stance mister, this is more of a "How soon should children be exposed to anti-terrorism or hostage negotiation training" issue

How about this. If we can keep mormonism at least 20 miles from any school campus (ANY SCHOOL preschool-college, med school, law school, police academy etc...) then there would be no NEED for anti-terrorism OR earthquake training...

THERE! I said it! (!)

even if it doesnt save the others, it will prolong their death and theres a chance they could be saved.

i shouldnt have argued in this thread, sorry.

I don't think anyone is arguing...you do make a good point. Still I woulda tried to disarm the guy or something before laying down my life just to kill time. At least that way you go out with a fight

On that note, if an Amish person does commit a crime and has to go to prison can they legally be forced to use electicity and stuff?
