With all of their freedom of speach retoric the Beasties truly let me down by using the IFPA to shut down http://100records.blogspot.com/ a great review and mp3 blog site where many many people discussed and discovered new music. Much of it older or out of print it gave many fans a chance to hear some of their favorite artists earliest and obscure material and give them just enough taste to make them track the album down at all cost. Judge for yourself weather a site with such a community and such a novel way of thinking and reviewing artist really should have been shut down over 4 older Beasties songs. If the beasties could read this please visit the site for yourlself and see if you think the Whole thing shoudl be shot down.
I love the beasties but I honestly would like to know if they even knew theior dogs had bitten someone.

I wish it was. One of my fav site wouldn't be going down. If you don't believe me just go there let the first few words load and they are explaining that in 2 hours the site will be no more because of the ifpa and the beastie boys. just look at the songs that are posted by the beasties and you'll see it was nothing big but they are making the dude that runs it shut the whole thing down. I just thaught it was wrong and wondered what everyone thaught. Considering the beasties ask on this message board for peoples own mix of their material and this guy just gave away a few back catalog songs which in my view would promote the band to someone new to the group.

it's most likely Capitol.

Yeh, we came to a conclusion that it probably had 0% to do witht the beastie's, more likely Capitol, or whoever their record label was in the 80's, I thought it could be RIAA, but then it would involve every other band.

Dude, they just released a greatest hits album with their older stuff on it. Why should they sit back while unpoliced websites give their work away for free? It isn't anyone's "right" to distribute someone else's music, and freedom of speech has to do with state and federal governments, not individuals. If I tape your mouth shut I haven't violated your First Amendment rights, I've violated criminal and civil laws prohibiting battery.
