View Full Version : Original Ill
This here is a rare gem for hip hop heads. The original track listing and versions for the unfortunately titled "Don't Be A Faggot" album that became "License To Ill". Not too many difference here in most of the songs unless you have a real keen ear for overdubs and echo, etc. But the inclusion of 'Scenario' makes it worthwhile. This song was the Holy Grail of Beastie rarities for many many years and is now here for you all. Most Beastie Boys collectors already have it on one form or another but now anyone can have it here. So sit back and kick off your shoes and relax your socks and listen to some old school with DaddyRich.

Isn't that just the def jam master demos (bootleg) from licensed to ill?

Yeeeeeears ago, I read a book about various artists (can't remember the title, sorry) and one of the chapters was about the Beastie Boys and it mentioned the songs that didn't make it on Licensed to Ill. Apparently there were four songs missing.
- I'm Down, Scenario, Transit Cop (a hip hop version of the Pollywog Stew song?) and finally a song called Double Barrelled Flesh which was ommitted due to sexually graphic lyrics.
Anyone else heard anything about this song?
I can't find any info on the net.
The book might of had incorrect info in it.

"Original Ill" is the name of a bootlegg CD that been out about 10 years now. Its mostly demos of the LTI plus "Scenario".
Scenario has been widely bootlegged since the 90s. They had clips of it in the Christian Slater movie "Pump Up the Volume".
I'm Down was apparently supposed to be on LTI but they couldn't get the sample clearence from Micheal Jackson, who owns the copyright now.
Never heard a thing about a hip hop version of Transit Cop or anything about Double Barrelled Flesh (LOL).

I don't mean that they actually made a hip hop version of Transit Cop, I was just speculating because that was one of the titles that the book mentioned as an omitted song.
And a song titled Double Barrelled Flesh was definitely mentioned as well.
Double Barrelled Flesh could have became Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun.

And what about "Desperado" man I would love to get my hands on that song. There was a version floating around but its not the same as the one that is playing in the movie Tougher than Leather. The mix on that one is sooo much cooler than the demo version that is floating around on bootlegs. I wish the Beastie Boys would release a defenitive Boxed Set with all those lost gems. I mean the anthology was great, but far from complete and a poor example of what a true Beastie Boys box set could be like.
Also I am really curious about the tracks that were going to be on that WHITE HOUSE album that was never released. I know the guys were bummed on that ever becoming a reality, but would have been so sweet if it had I think. Would have been uber curious to hear what that album would have been like.

yea, but that was under Chuck D's discreation. He was supposed to produce that album with remixes and rejected LTI material until he heard Pauls Boutigue and understood that the beasties were in it for the long run and not some fad like vanilla ice.

I've often wondered if the Tougher Than Leather version of Desperado IS the complete studio version with crowd noises (woooaa-oooaaahh) simply dubbed over it. The rest of the movie is dubbed, you can see their lips moving half a second before their voices.
So maybe the full version of that song DOES exist somewhere in the DEF JAM vault.
I would sell my soul to get that song.

And not just the crowd noises its also at a slower tempo then the bootleg version floating around. But exactly I bet you it is in the Def Jam vaults along with whatever else would have been put on that WHITE HOUSE ALBUM.
