The first of my friends' is getting married next year and she asked me to be a bridesmaid which is a huge honor because she's only asking other family members. I'm so excited. I've never been in a wedding before, and hell, I've only been to one other wedding and several receptions, so yay! :)

Man, it's so weird she's getting married. She's going to be 25. I definitely don't want to be married before 26. She's going to have a super-traditional wedding with eeeverything. Luncheons, dinners, rehearsals, bachelorette party, bridal shower, this that and the other. I always wanted something simple and non-traditional...a beach wedding would be ideal. A pretty dress, but not a wedding dress, maybe a dinner the day before and definitely a bachelorette party, but that's about it. It just seems like so much goddamn work and money for one day, dammit.

Is the wedding in Maryland? Get really drunk and breakdance in that dress becasue you will never wear it again. My wife has been a bridesmaid in 6 weddings and has all the dresses in a spare closet.

I know I'll never wear it again. And I know it'll probably be stupid expensive. Though I'd love to have the dresses made by friends of the family, because it's so much cheaper just to buy fabric and a pattern - and they're very professional in their work. I'm trying to convince her to do that.
And yeah, it's in Maryland. After party = spinach and crab dip till you puke. :)

I can rock that suit if you want....I'll get it custom made. Anyway you are right my "small" wedding went from like $6,000 to almost $25,000 in a matter of about two weeks of planning. Thank God we didn't go through with it

I hope the crabs are from Crisfield.

Daaaaamn. So did you break up, or did you just elope or do something smaller?
I'm hearing horror stories of girls' fathers paying like $60,000 altogether for their weddings. I'd never have my parents pay that amount. Whatever they wanted to contribute would be accepted, but I'd never expect it or ask them. ...Unless I really needed the extra help, then I'd probably ask.
THAT'S A COLLEGE EDUCATION RIGHT THERE!

I've never had their crabs. But anything east coast is awesome. We'd always head over to the Chesapeake and stop by some random crab shop and pick up like 5 pounds worth and break out the hammers. Goddammit I love crab. (y)

Most crabs out of the Chesapeake are out of the crab capital of the world--Crisfield Maryland. I used to eat fried softshells--a kid like me from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia had never seen an entire crab dropped in a deep fryer and then served as a sandwich.

Man, I haven't had fine quality Murryland crab for a while now. First thing next summer, I'm taking a wee field trip.
Till then it's the $15.99 all you can eat scrimps at Red Lobster.
