I can put it in my polls if I want. What are you going to do about it?

I am quite truly offended. Gå til helvete!

We're going to put sanctions on you.

I voted no but realistically people can do what they want. Personally I will continue to not choose the Echewta option unless of course the question is "Who should no longer be used as a poll option?"

It amazes me that people still do it and it amazes me more that people have such an issue with it.

how does it even work? how can poll options be "yes" "no" and "echewta"? does anyone else see the logistical error of this?

I don't see why not. It's been tradition since I started here.

"yes" "no" "echewta"

someone needs to make a tshirt of that it would be kinda funny

what? when was that? 'more songs by sting' was far better.

is Echewta really a choice? I thought he was kinda like a side dish that comes with every meal.

Ha!

I must have missed some major Echewta/Soy action today.

Damn it!

I can see how it's not your fault. None of the blame rests on you, but on we who take issue with it.

I don't care. It's just not funny. Maybe if you all keep hammering at it for another few years it will eventually become funny.

nor is the "sting" option on the polls.

It's just not funny.
This is precisely the point. It's like 8 years in, too.

So is it like Saturday Night Live, where it was never funny and they keep repeating it in hopes that it will be? Or is the joke that it was never funny but that newbies do it because they want to pretend to get a joke that isn't really a joke and so the joke is really on the newbies?

I ask because the people who mention it never seem to understand that it's not funny.

Good points. I think it's just about belonging. People can go "Jeez, it's just a dumb joke!" all they want, but they never seem to address how stupid it is. And the ones who use/defend it usually have the most impecabbly high standards for MB conduct and content. That surprises me always.

message board polls are not meant to be mocked for they are tools of democracy, tools of choice, tools...of freedom.

Echewta is an enemy of democracy and hates freedom.

Hey, the part about belonging makes sense.

I enjoy the sociology of message boards. We say it's like high school and that's true. Many of my jobs have been like high school. Maybe everything is like high school and we're just going to repeat the same patterns over and over.
