Mike D revealed in an interview awhile back that Yauch was supposed to be there, but he couldn't make it because his wife was giving birth at the time.

Posdnous, of De La Soul, was posting on the spitkicker boards a few years back, so I took the opportunity to ask him just this.

He pretty much said what McDuff explained. Basically Pos said that the Beasties had made a pact to chill for a while, and if all three rhymed on the track, Tommy Boy would have wanted to make it a single. Plus Yauch was doing his family thing, and respectfully declined.

I used to see all 3 members of de la sol hanging out at the local mall. its fun because they were all famous and still haning out at the mall like mall rats. talk about keepin it real!

I went to one of their shows a couple years back. As soon as they found out I was on Spitkicker, they invited me back stage and I got to discuss Hip Hop with them. Very down to earth cool guys. (y)
