That post sounds like something made up. I love it though. Man, I guess model trains is a fairly geeky though normal hobby...

That's what I mean...there are people totally lost in bizarre tech-medieval fantasy worlds of tiny pewter figures and fake grass. These guys are just lost in a slightly more realistic one with fake grass and pewter models of...trains.

Man.

Can't even come up with something interesting to fantasize about. At least if there were really giant mechanized trolls with miniguns that'd be cool - real trains that go through tunnels aren't anything to start awesome wars over.

hey, hey, hey. this isn't about dissing the hobby of model trains. This is about ruining the serenity of a tight nit ommunity of complete strangers.

How active is their forum?

We should pick one that's more vibrant...or at least more relevant.

i want to post something about my wife and putting her back in the box when she starts to complain about the trains. and how sometimes she doesn't want to get back in the box but the blunt end of the shotgun soon shuts her up

Haaaa..

Every day I get home from work and I can't even take off my suit or coat until I've let the train go at least once around it's track. Call me crazy, but without the little 'click clack' of the cars I just can't relax.

Over time it's become a bit more alarming than just that. Living alone I have no one to question it, but I've started feeling the need to run tracks all over the house. Now I can't go to the bathroom without the train in the room, and I've found myself sometimes waiting for it to go completely around it's circuit and come back to the toilet before I went.

I'll cut to the chase - I've been later and later to work every day this week because I keep feeling the need to wait for my train to come by the door so I can leave. I need to either setup a seperate and shorter circuit by the front door or learn to leave without my train. Does anyone else feel this compulsion?

I was gonna post this...

It sounds to me, Pres, if I may call you Pres, that your obsession with all things trainial is somewhat distracting you from your civic duties as a husband, which in turn is causing anxiety relating to your modelling. Now, as we all know, being a bad husband is punishable by death, so how do we stop ourselves from being a bad husband yet manage to find time for modelling at the same time.

The fools answer would be to give up the modelling save for once every fortnight when your wife would have to understand that the evening is set aside for you and your models of trains and farms and logging mills, while the other 13 days of the 14 are devoted entirely to keeping your wife happy, and being a good husband and a sane person. However, I know just how devoted you are to your trains and your unwillingness to forget about them, which is why I can happily suggest another method. This is of course to take your trains into the bedroom.

"But what will the wife say?" I hear you ask; Well fear no more, my good friend, for if there is one sure fire way of keeping up your hobby while still satisfying your wife it's to bring both elements of your life together into one glorious whole. Remember the joy you got when first modelling that Welsh mountainside, or unwrapping the paper that contained your first brown steamer? Why not teach your wife the simple pleasures of train modelling? Show her your finest engine. Allow her to touch it. Promise to buy her a book on train modelling that she can read while standing in front of the oven when you're out earning money. If her interest is waning due to lack of realism then make some hills out of the bedsheets while educating her about our generation's finest hobby. I'm sure that as soon as her tiny brain comprehends all the information you are giving to her then she'll be chomping at the bit to help you recreate the Whiston to Edge Hill section of the Liverpool and Manchester railway instead of having to spend time having your dinner ready for you when you get in and/or looking pretty. I'm sure you'll both find hours of enjoyment is to be had when you can build a replica of a farm silo in less than 2 days!

Please let me know how well this method works out for you.

Love
Dr Trainz.

You guys just don't understand how life changing making model trains can be. This show (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.thetrainshow.com/images/tts_richie2.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.thetrainshow.com/railsonwheels_dvd.html&h=354&w=52) turned my life around.

I'm so busy riding the mini rails I don't even have time to download horse-porn anymore!
