A lot of my friends' iPods broke. They couldn't exercise with them because the jiggling screwed them up royally. One had a 15gb one, another has the nano...within 2 months of having them they had to go back to the Apple store.

mine stopped for a while but on the apple site it tells you how to master reset w/o losing any songs. I did that and it has worked fine ever since.

i got a 2nd gen mini, back when that was the ish. it broke twice, on my 3rd replacement, i got a winner. i used it for a year, then gave it away, and it's still working for that person. 2.5 years. not bad, right?

i got a ipod photo for a year and some months now... it works peachy. and i beat that shit up.

If you have a video ipod, for the love of god don't update the software. Mine worked fine until the latest software update. I'm talking about the ipod software not the itunes software. Since the ipod update, if I play a podcast the ipod crashes. And at least once every day, the sound stops working. There are fixes around these problems but it is so irritating!

I only updated the software because prior to the update I couldn't watch videos that I downloaded from the itunes store and watching videos on the ipod is something I like to do on airplanes. :mad: It's a well known problem on the internet, but you won't see anything about it on an apple website. :rolleyes:

I'm thinking about going to the apple store and asking them if they can take the last update off the damn thing.

i dunno, i'm having problems with my zen micro. a pretty common one, too. it's the headphones, if i move ever so slightly (ie, if i tap the cord with my fingernail), it affects the sound quality. that's a shitty way of describing it, but basically if i move the thing at all, then my headphones will like get quiet, or only work in one ear, and i have to wiggle it again randomly until the sound comes back. it's not a problem with the headphones, it's a problem with the player and i hear a lot of people have it.

i dunno, maybe ipods are no better, but i'm a little miffed

So I went to the apple store and the guy was a tool. I have restored my ipod a few times (it takes about three hours) and it still crashs but less often. That's not satisfactory.
