no joke, i actually saw vanilla ice live in his metal days. i'm sure i've told this story before, but i'll tell it again because this is an appropriate thread if one ever existed.
it was a free show at a college campus, so we decided to go. most of his songs were his metal shit, nobody cared. but he did of course play ice ice baby, and he was charitable enough to use the old beat. i swear, once the beat kicked in, it was just a frenzy, the crowd went nuts. he even let the crowd sing the whole first verse, you could kind of watch him swallow his pride, it was great. he screamed the song, but he did at least use the old beat.
the guy's such a good sport. people were tossing bottles at him (glass bottles, too, 40oz bottles even) but he didn't skip a beat, he just blocked them very gracefully. when a stagehand tried to come out in the middle of a song with a broom to brush the bottles off to the side, vanilla just grabbed the broom and threw it into the audience, he was mad. after the song he said "DON'T EVER DO THAT AGAIN! IF YOU FUCKERS WANNA THROW SHIT I'M JUST GONNA THROW IT BACK", and that's what he did. he'd just catch bottles and throw them back.
there were SO many bottles, too. it wasn't like the dude from nickelback or whatever getting hit by one bottle and leaving in a hissy fit, it was just a fucking barrage of glass and plastic for the whole set. guy didn't care though, god bless him.
i had a video of his ice ice baby performance on my old computer, it was hilarious. some kid tried to hand him a bowl of strawberries while he was singing. vanilla just took the bowl and opened it, singing the whole time mind you. he looked at the bowl and just did this "what the fuck are you giving me?" shrug, and handed the bowl back. then the guy threw the strawberries at him.
some kids tried to rush the stage, too. most of them got intercepted by the roadie, but one lucky kid made it and vanilla let him say "check out the hook while my DJ revolves it"
i gotta find that video, it was a fun time

If it was me I would have been going crazy. Whenever I've seen him on t.v he has a pretty short fuse but I guess he knows how to control his temper sometimes..............

Ok, this is kinda embarrising, but..... My old band opened for him here in Virginia.... The dude still thinks he is the shit.... His drummer stole our drum stool..... Oh and we allso opened for Corey Feldman's band, which is even more embarrising.....:rolleyes:
