View Full Version : Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
I managed to find a brand new Phoenix Wright game. It's so rare to find, used even. Recently, I was hooked on it for many hours. The hype is no exaggeration. It's a court room game, where you play a lawyer, Phoenix Wright. You represent people accused of crimes. But there's more to it than that. You also explore other areas besides being in the court room. You do some detective work, in order to build up your case in court. This game is for the Nintendo DS. If you have a DS, and manage to find the game, buy it. I *very much so* recommend it.

damn you. now i have to con one of my children into giving me his / her ds (they both have a ds and a ds lite) and then i have to buy the game.
gimme a sample question. i think i could kick ass at this game.
When you're in court, you have an inventory of evidence, that you use during testimonies. With each statement that is made by the witness or the accused, you are able to press the "object" button to question them further. The strategy lies in when to use the correct evidence against certain statements. In other words, your job is to find contradiction in statements.
I've been stuck in the game, at times. Some parts were hard. Right now, I'm trying to solve a murder involving a popular samurai TV show. In the game, the hero of the show reportedly killed the villian in his dressing room, but there's always more to it than meets the eye.

This got a general release in the UK and it's still on most game shop shelves.
I play my friends copy - it's a good, original game.
^ Haha, off topic, but that's the man from Doom. Nice avatar.
I'm surprised you're able to find it easily in the UK. Here, it's next to impossible to find it at Gamestop/EB, Toys R US, Target, etc.. The only reason I was able to buy it, is because an employee pointed it out to me one day, while in the store. They only had one game in.

this game is total BALLS.
there is no other way to put it. it's a shitty, crappy, absolutely pish capcom piece of shit.
there's no clue-finding or real challenge to it. you just have to go through EVERYTHING and read it all. big whoop.
as florian from kotaku.com has so eloquently put:
I - unlike many - find nothing fun about sitting around for an hour, hitting the A button as fast as I can to skip through a hundred pages of text that pad out the approximately five minutes of actual gameplay present in Phoenix Wright.
i returned it to my store after two days of total and utter boredom.
OBJECTION! (n)
Eh, yeah, it's not for everyone, but that is what the graphic adventure genre is like. It's more story-orientated, than action-based. But you're solving puzzles, in a sense. If you're expecting walking around with a character, doing actual moves, or fighting even, look elsewhere. I mean, think Shadow Gate, and that's basically what this is, or based on that concept anyway.

no, see, i love puzzle games. puzzle games are the bomb. the best part of zelda (nice avatar btw) are the side quests and puzzle solving.
it's just that phoenix wright doesn't actually involve many puzzles. it's just finding the "hotlinks" on the screen, pressing them, and reading about them. you can't, say, like in monkey island, use them together in a unique way or anything. it's just about order in the trial scenes. and the music and graphics are awful. haha, sorry, i just hate it.
i read a review somewhere that it's more like a ds book than a game. i don't want to read shitty books on my ds.
Yeah, I get what you're saying. It is like reading a digital book. I dunno, I like it. It really is a niche genre. I guess these types of games are refreshing to play. They interest me greatly for some reason.
