Life without a period? No PMS? Sign me up. I just worry about the side effects and whether or not insurance would cover it.

If there's a pill that could prevent ladies from having their period then I really have no reason to live with such a small penis.

you could always do that with any birth control pill just by not taking the "week off" or skipping the placebo pills
and no, its not good

That was my first thought.
I think stopping menstruation sounds like a horrible idea... health wise. Weird...

i think it is good. i mean, having more periods has been named as a reason why women get ovarian cancer later in their lives. the influx of hormones for such a long time, uninterrupted by pregnacies (which is what kept women in the old days from getting cancer, they think)... that's not healthy either.
if they made it with a low enough dose of estrogen, i would take it.

its ok if you are like "oh shitsies I dont want my period when im in hawaii next week" and then skip your period that month but its not good to just skip it for years at a time
I worked for a woman who did that for 10 years and ended up having multiple ectopic pregnancies and a bunch of other bullshit down the line
I think that seasonal depo shot only gives you 4 periods a year so that you still atleast menstruate occasionally

it is the pregnancy itself that lowers risks for certain cancers, but apparently you have to become pregnant before you are 24 for the studies to hold true, but not necessarily continue becoming pregnant afterwards at certain intervals
we talked about it in a class once and our male teacher stopped and said "so ladies, what are you still doing sitting here GO GET PREGNANT!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH"

I tried once and still got my period, and my doctor told me that some girls can't skip them. He says it's a gamble if I try to skip it, because I'm pretty much unprotected the month afterwards, it's just a misconception that you can "skip out" on your period. It may just cancel out the next month because the hormones weren't supposed to work that way, it needs the week off.
It says in the article that the pill was created in a way to give you your period as a "psychological" effect - some girls can't deal with the fact that they wouldn't get their period so it gives them a false sense of "everything's okay."
It's just a natural reaction to being free of progesterin and estrogen, your body will start to bleed (it's not your period). So after knowing that, I'm not as freaked out about not getting my period cuz technically I'm not getting it now, right?
HEIRESS

errr you lost me there
you still have certain levels of estrogen and progesterone in your body during your period, you need that week off because it also gives your body a chance to be free from high levels of those hormones because thats how nature intended it, regardless if it was supposedly planned for psychological reasons for the taker of the pill
taking bc pills continuously or taking high dose ones interferes with your hormone receptors in the body, making them less sensitive or conversely overly sensitive and fucking them up when they are continuously bombarded with such hormones
its kind of like why caffeine addicts get headaches if they dont have their coffee by a certain time each day, that chemical receptor is expecting to be hit with caffeine and once it doesnt it starts to revert back to when it wasnt "addicted" to caffeine and the side effects include a headache etc etc
all Im saying is its such an intricate and delicate process of checks and balances that Im just totally against hormone based birth control pills
mostly because I know first hand what happens when you try and fuck with nature and I dont give a fuck if doctors who are all in the back pocket of pharmaceutical companies are saying birth control pills are totally safe and pumping xeno-estrogens into the body is a totally safe thing to do
in our regular environments we are surrounded by enough potentially harmful xenoestrogens so I dont see the need to willfully pump more into my body everyday on top of that

my mercedes
holds 4 in the back
2 if you're fat
sorry i just couldn't resist
you can go back to talking about periods or whatever again
I don't like the idea of your period just going away from taking a pill. Yeah, they're a mess and painful, but still -- better to go with the flow.
Of course I understand that there isn't (or maybe isn't any what-so-ever) BLOOD coming out of you during your monthly visitor, but it's like.. Your body's constantly cleaning and releasing and blablabla and re-producing stuff to keep itself healthy. I dunno. I think of it as everything building up, and eventually, causing more problems and less efficiency later in life. Or something.
I sound like I'm high.

The increased use of Depo and other treatments that reduce periods has been linked to a rise in infection.
Apparently, bugs like to hitch rides on the backs of passing sperm, taking them to their primno destination, and a good oil change can send them on their way.

errr you lost me there
To tell you the truth, the article lost me too. See, I thought your body still built up the uterine wall and such and it shed during your period (that's where the blood comes from) because it's EXPECTING an egg. But since there is none and nothing's fertilized, everything still gets flushed out.
But according to that article it says that "Traditional pill packs contain a week of placebos for each monthly cycle, and, as a result, women who take them appear to menstruate. But it turns out that the bleeding serves no reproductive purpose. Since there's no egg to flush out, the bleeding is a symptom of withdrawal from progestin and estrogen, the hormones in the pill—in essence, it's a fake period. The inventors of the pill, which debuted in 1960, supposedly decided to mimic the menstrual cycle because they thought that would make women more psychologically comfortable with the product. "
So it's confusing. See, I always thought that I got my "period" (sans egg) while on Ortho Lo, but apparently it's not that at all? It's just an illusion to make you feel like it's still a natural proccess. If that's the case, then my whole "Oh, good here's my period, I guess I'm not pregnant" thought process is bunk. If that's the case, there would be no reason for me to be on a pill that gave me my period seeing as how it's not a reassurance, and I could just skip out on it altogether.
Though it would be weird to just not have anything at all.

Be very careful about this. I read about this pill and about half of the women taking it are suffering very bad, having depressions and suicidal thoughts, gainig weight massivly etc. I wouldn't take it!!!! (n) it's got to do with one of the "ingredients". There seem to be a lot of women who are allergic...

um... are you sure you did it right? i might be reading this wrong, but it sounds to me like you did it the wrong way. like instead of taking your first day of placebo pills, you just take your first day of your next pack of active pills. you didnt just not take any pills for a week did you?
i never take my placebo pills. since they're like, not real and all. i just dont take any pills that week.
and ive skipped my period the way mentioned above many times. i would consider going on something that stops your periods. before i got on birth control i would only get a period every few months anyway. not having a period is pretty sweet. i dont get PMS or anything but just the hassle of bleeding everywhere.... messing up underwear, bedsheets, having to deal with changing pads or tampons when you're at work or class, having to have sex in the shower, it's overall just an annoying process.

yes. any pill will do. My health care professionals have me trying this out...because I get migranes around my period...they suspect from the drop in estrogen in my system. So skiping my periods can cause me fewer migraines.
they told me that it's recommended I have at least 4 periods a year.
I beleive the risk of strokes and bloodclots is the primary danger in skipping periods through birthcontrol pills. So this new pill....probably has a very high risk of that.

I don't take anything. I don't know if that's bad or not, I just hate the idea of jamming myself full of hormones and shit.
everyone is like "oh the pill clears my skin up blah blah" but I just can't bring myself to take it

totally get a hysterectomy. no more pesky periods or worrying about contraception. sure you'll never be able to have kids of your own and will constantly struggle with the thought that you're not a real woman and no man would ever want to marry you. but pah. small price to pay.

they should invent a pill where your body don't have to do anything he should do anymore...no period, no shit, no pee, no eating, no nothing.
Life would be much more fun.
How can people ever consider or question this sort of pill?? Obviously it is not good and soon somebody will suffer the secondaries effects like maybe cancer, it seem to be the ultimate side effect because in the long run you are altering the natural constitution of your body , keep it from working like he should, therefore creating unnatural situation, playing with the hormones, all this just can be negative on your body. Having period is having the ability to create life, fuck....why would someone want this privilege to be fucked.
