Even though authorities are snuffing their noses (http://apnews.myway.com/article/20061019/D8KRUQL00.html) to threats of an American Hiroshima this weekend, they sure as hell will provide their own terror threats!
The ad portrays Osama bin Laden and quotes his threats against America dating to February 1998. "These are the stakes," the ad concludes. "Vote November 7."
Yup he's STILL a free man after 5 years.....your doin' a heckuva job bush!
The commercial tracks with Republican Party strategy to make the war on terrorism a central theme of this election. It will air as recent polls show Republicans losing ground as the party best able to combat terrorism.
Besides homosexuality, this seems to be the only other issue they can shove in our faces, expect the terror color warnings to change shade as we come closer to election day.

Oh god, I hope they play that here in support of our GOP candidates. That would be so great. It might help us Democrats get a couple of extra seats in the house!

you know...you'd hope so, but...

No, they would never be stupid enough to play that in my state. It was a negative ad that lost them a US Senate seat a while ago.
And nationwide, people don't believe in the war anymore. Americans only like fighting wars if they can win them quickly, with few lost US lives. This one has turned the corner.

you're giving Minnesota too much credit, Documad :p dont you remember that horseshit ad they were running a while ago where they said something about how "we are fighting Al Qaeda in Iraq contrary to what the liberal jew run news is telling you"?

this ad naturally fails to mention the drastic increase in terrorism since the "War On Terrorism" started, as well.

We have democrats in a dead heat in districts that usually go to republicans by 20 points. And the people who have been turning up for the democratic candidates are all saying that they want out of Iraq and they want single payer health care.
The other encouraging thing is that it looks like even the homosexual issues aren't going to scare people this year. It helped that some good christian leaders came out early and publicly against a constitutional amendment.
Minnesotans thrive on thinking they're smarter and better than everyone else. They won't like it if outsiders try to manipulate them this way. I seriously hope they run that ad here. (The only reason Wellstone got elected the first time was because his opponent went negative at the end. Older Minnesotans are proud of that.)

You know, I've only seen attack ads in Maryland...all for Ehrlich (R), none for O'Malley. I'm still trying to figure out what their strategy is. Historically, Montgomery County along with Prince George's and Baltimore Counties are highly populated and highly Democratic. We're the ones that overwhelm the rest of rural Maryland to carry the state. It seems like an uphill losing battle to advertise here. It'd be much like if O'Malley went down to the dirty south and tried to convince them to vote for him...ain't gonna work.
The attacks don't say anything about Ehrlich, either. They don't even mention "Vote for Ehrlich." It's just stuff about how O'Malley distorted the crime statistics and then gave the "real" statistics...which were collected by Ehrlich's appointees of course.
This slander stuff is REALLY getting on my nerves. Well, you should vote for us cuz THEY'RE soft on terror! Well...are you tough on terror, or do you just appear to be? Umm...ummm...the OTHER side is SOFT on TERROR! What's not to understand?
Ugh. (n)
