I just got a report from M and Jennygirl. They're front and center with mris and another board member. Pretty laid back vibe right now as most folks are still at the skate competition.

There are instruments, so it'lll probably be similar to last night with Gratitude and Sabotage closing it out. But it doesn't sound like $Mark and Fredo are there.

About an hour to go.(y)

yes it was my first show & my brother's too (he's 20) & it was dope!

i was pretty close to the stage actually (i'll upload pics later) & i made eye contact with AdRock (my brother doesn't believe me but i did!) MMM was fresh after the show my brother (who's a non-fan) admitted that the DJ was tight & they were awesome as well.

adrock was cracking jokes between songs a lot

it was fun:cool: :D

That was nice of your brother to take you. Is that how your parents let you go?

You know, we're counting on you for the recap. What song did you like best? What was the biggest surprise? Or was it like you thought it would be?

no thats the Hollywood show that i have to workout somehow

i had 4 tickets my parents had this thing to go to so my brother volunteered to take me. so 2 tickets were'nt used (srry ya'll)

we got there around 7:30 or 7:45 so we had to go thru the entrance , while we're still outside we hear the MC "are u ready for the Beastie Boys?!" ready for some true old skool hip hop?! the crowd was responding & already i knew it was gonna be great. we were at the wrong entrance (the VIP one) thats we're we saw Don Magic Juan, anywayz we finally go to the right entrance which leads to the stage

we were at the side of the stage pretty close to it actually, they were playing 2Pac songs which already kinda kicked it off to a great start

when MMM came out i was so excited then the b-boys came out & i got a weird feeling..these guys who i adore & listen to practically everyday are a few feet away from me...i'm seeing them in person! i got a really weird feeling at first almost like a big thud on my chest idk but it felt weird

i was pretty close to the speakers so the bass was boomin! i put my hand to my chest & it was vibrating!

my brother kept on saying "i don't fit in" cuz he was dressed all baggy & most people there were skaters. & i kept on saying "i don't eithier" i was wearing baggy basketball shorts & a black shirt we kinda laughed about it

also we were listening to The chronic on the way to the show it was a perfect day for music

earlier today i listened to flute loop for the 3rd time in my life (this was a b-boy song that usually got skipped, WAS) its kinda weird that the day i start liking that song they performed it

alright enuff about me now lets talk about them

(all these quotes aren't exactly what they were saying ,not word per word , just similar)

so as i said adrock was cracking jokes a lot..someone threw a dollar bill & a nickel he was all "WTF? someone just threw a dollar five" then all of them regonized who it was & started saying Tony!" then adrock goes "A dollar per song thats fucked up" or something like that

adrock also noticed somebody was wearing a personally made beastie boy hat & he said "this guy is wearing a bootleg, here let me see the hat i promiss i'll give it back" **tosses hat* "did u make that yourself?" "yea" "ok my lawyers will be calling you"

Mike & AdRock made an invisible line between them & were pretending to fight & adrock finally says lets break the line c'mon mike so they did

also when MMM was about to play Brass Monkey, all 3 were like "Mike,no this is a family show! don't do it mike!" when he did drop Brass monkey they went crazy

they were probally more but this is what is sticking out of my mind

i really can't say which was my favorite song i really can't choose all of them were awesome

Yo! I'm half asleep sitting at the airport waiting for my flight to vegas and just stoppin by. I don't even know where to begin... it was quite the experience last night. I think I'll wait to consult M on how to divulge all the juicy details! You know she's good for that. We were front and center and hearing Flute Loop and HPD were def highlights for me. Skills to Pay the Bills was also a treat. I'd heard they did Posse in Santa Cruz, I'm hopin to hear me some Posse in Sin City. The instruments were so fun to see busted out for the encore songs, but it really made me want some Egg Raid or Time for Livin' type stuff. Always a treat to hear Gratitude/Sabotage. This show was quite a treat. It was cool to meet Razmatazern, Pshabi and Mris too! I just said 'treat' like a gang load of times here... apparently if I had to sum this show up in a word, yep it'd have to be "TREAT" it was a tasty treat alright. The banter sessions were actually audible and Adrock was mocking all the "VIP's" in the crowd. That Buck-o-Five someone chucked up on stage was funny. Pshabi got mad props for his hat. Um yeah, I'm tired and trying to put it all together and it isn't happenin.

Like I said more to follow, I'm seriously tired at the moment. Gonna go regroup poolside with a Mai Tai and we'll get back wit'chas. We've got pics/vids and stuffs to share with all our friends here.

But yeah we were reporting to Poots so he's got most of it, even the Burger King incident. Hee hee.

What's up y'all? I wanted to post a little report last night, but I was a zombie when I finally got back to Vegas. I made the 4 hour trip to Lake Forest and got to the site about 4PM. The 4 hour drive back home landed me BACK in Vegas about 2PM. A very LOOOOONG DAY but so fucking worth it.

I'll talk a little bit about the show, but let me first describe the "hat" incident. As "fanboyish" as this sounds coming from a 29 year old, I don't give a fuck. I had a face to face, one on one, discussin with the K.I.D!!!!!!

Near the halfway point of the set (wish someone would post a setlist already!) Adrock is kind of talking and scanning the crowd. He stops when he sees my hat and says, "That's a bootleg ass hat" and starts walking over to the middle of the stage!!!! I was front and fucking dead center and I was like, "You want it?" and he said, "Throw it up here, I'll give it right back." Seriously folks, this was sick.

He asked me, "Did you make that yourself?" and I was like "yeah." (Minor lie, I had it made myself, at one of those mall kiosk things, haha. Pic to follow.) So, toss the hat up there and he's like, "look at this bootleg hat" and he holds it up for the crowd to see and moves it back and forth really slow. Then I said, "let me have the dishrag!"

"Dishrag?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! This isn't a dishrag man!"

"Handkerchief then?"

Then he went on about how it was "lacoste" and all the VIPs have to know about that! He said his friend AWOL gave it to him. Of course he didn't toss it to me, I knew he wouldn't but it was a funny exchange nonetheless. At the end he said, "You'll hear from our lawyers on Monday."

Honestly, it was like time stopped because the whole focus was on just me at that time. I mean, I'm talking to the fucking King Adrock with Mike and Yauch just sitting there listening to the both of us! It had to be a minute long, but it was one hot minute! Jenny said she got it on video so I'm hoping she posts it when she gets up today!

Anyway, more about the show! The Pass the Mic verse wasn't actually a verse. As Paul B alluded to it was something about their new name being "Larry."

First Mike D (I think it was Mike first) said something to the effect of, "My name was Mike D but I changed my name, I changed my name and now my new name is Larrrrryyyyyyyy." Not exact, but it was something to the effect, and it rhymed.

Then Adam and Adam both said the same thing. They pronounced, "Laaaahvvvvvvyyyyy" though. Obviously a personal joke, but funny for us as well. The referenced it a few more times in between tracks and Adrock asked Yauch how you spell that. "Double R" MCA replied.

Random musings in no particular order:

- Like was mentioned earlier, the banter was audible throughout the whole show. The boys were in very good spirits throughout and were cracking lots of jokes.

- Adrock was drinking Corona on stage, but none of it got sprayed on the crowd. Wish it would have.

- Yesterday's power animal was "rhino," form of "numbchucks.":D They took time to let that be known.

- Yauch was sporting a knee brace. Earlier in the day, I was hanging out over by the skate pool and overheard some older skate guy (probably someone famous, but I'm not into that scene and didn't recognize him) was talking to some friends. He said the bboys were in Santa Cruz the night before and he went up to see them. He said he was playing bball with him and MCA hurt his knee and was laying on his back for a while. I figured this was the reason for the brace, but when I asked "someone in the know" about it, he said Yauch always wears the brace, but he was surprised to see him wear it on stage with shorts on.

- Root Down was noticeably missing. But we did get a chopped version of The New Syle (partial first verse and the outro). MMM threw an alternate beat in for the outro which kind of tripped the boys up. Adrock didn't get in on the beat drop and had to wait for a bar, it was cool though. It's the same beat that's in that short German vid on youtube. I know it, but can't put a name on it.

- We also got Flute Loop which was ill. They played HPD and Skillz as well. Triple Trouble opened but I'll be damned if I can remember the 2nd song. In no particular order we also got Sure Shot, Paul Revere, Brass Monkey, and Body Movin', from memory.

- The closed with SWW and came back with Intergalactic for the encore. Then the wheeled out a drum kit, stage left and Adam and Adam got out their guitars. I missed Fredo and Money, but it was cool seeing them play stripped down a bit. They closed with Gratitude and Sabotage.

- There was a slight buzzkill cause some moron decided it was a good idea to bring along his 8 year old nephew, who wasn't even rail height. He was standing behind me the whole time, with his nose basically in my ass. It was hard to ignore him and not be worried about the kid as a parent. Especially when the meatheads started doing the push thing towards the end of the show.

- All in all, the crowd was somewhat whack. The crowd was into it, but the vibe wasn't that great from the skate kids, honestly. But fuck it, I feel like I'm alone at a bboys show anyway. Focus, grasshoppa!

- One more rant: This is the 2nd time I've experienced this shit. It pisses me off to no end how some female audience members think they get a free pass to be rude and inconsiderate because they are females and can't get popped in the fucking nose. I'm totally non-violent, but I know when somebody steps over the line. This one bitch behind me totally made the encore unenjoyable for me because she was hellbent on getting up as close as she could get, as if the band is going to notice her or something. She kept pushing and trying to squeeze up to the rail and was very inconsiderate to a lot of people around me. Guys don't pull this shit, because they know what happens when they do it to the wrong fella. But at the last two shows I've been to, it's been a female who has been totally fucking rude and stupid. I can't tell you how tempted I was to let a 'bow fly at an opportune time, but I didn't want her leakin' all over my fly t-shirt.;)

I just got off the phone with Pootytang and realized, wow, I'm gonna be reliving this again tomorrow night! Can't wait.

And for those hatin' on the idea of meeting people from the board, I gotta say it made the show even better. Sharing the rail with people YOU KNOW are feeling as much as you is a great experience. We repped to the fullest.

my section of the crowd was actually pretty good...the guy in front of me was definitly feeling it & these girls behind me were drunk but they were dancing a lot so i didn't care as long as they didn't throw up on me :D

i got there around 7:30

when my brother & me finally got to the stage the MC guy we heard from outside was already gone & the speakers were playing 2Pac

Another thing that was awesome was I got to see/hear the sound check from line. It was me, Raz, and her moms waiting in line. All of a sudden I hear a voice over the PA and I'm like, "that's Yauch!" Then I heard Adrock too. They did part of SWW and Gratitude. I yelled out "Adam!!!!!" and I'm sure Yauch heard me. The line was approx 125 yards from the stage area, so we could actually see them.

Oh, and here's the infamous hat (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a212/Pshabi/000_0008.jpg).

hey who was the MC guy who was pumping up the crowd?

& what time did u get there?

i kinda wish i had gotten there earlier but my brother was pretty much racing on the freeway, we're lucky we didn't crash or something, but we got there & still managed to get good a good spot(y)
I got there about 4. Lined up about 5:30. They let us in about 7:15. The DJ was DJ Icy Ice, I think and he had an MC with him. He was going old school, just hyping everybody up, tossing out CDs, etc. but did do a track of his own at the end. Didn't catch his name though.

we had kind of a bad experience with the crowd. we got there a lot later than we wanted to, so we couldn't get up close enough. oh well.

when we got there the guy kept on saying "old skool 'beastie boys, busta ryhmes, jump, love?

those are the words he was making the crowd say it sounded dope from outside

i wanted to see some actual skating but oh well

Well, Miramanee, Jenny, and the girl standing next to me the whole time (Michelle? Fuck, she was cool, but I'm terrible w/ names. Not sure I caught the board name either) were in there early. They got some VIP wristbands after some begging, so they were at the rail when I got there. Raz and myself were first in line, yes.

They said, "Don't run, there's plenty of room for everybody," when they were about to let us in. They patted me down and I turned my hat backwards and took off like Carl Fucking Lewis. Fuck walking!

What's up y'all? I wanted to post a little report last night, but

Near the halfway point of the set (wish someone would post a setlist already!) Adrock is kind of talking and scanning the crowd.

i did post a setlist already, in another thread. I'm looking for a ticket to LA. Help me out, and you'll get crystal clear recordings of both the Lake Forest and LA shows.

Another thing I forogt to mention:

MMM was on point! I've heard/seen 3 MCs performed countless times, but his scratching was better than ever last night. Fast as fuck.

Also, he dropped a bunch of new beats. He did use "Breathe" again, but the 900 # was missing from Sure Shot. Lots of pure hip hop beats and less commercial stuff. Tons of new, fresh beats made it an extra special "treat.":D

yea afterwards when we were walking to our car. i asked him so watch'cha think about the DJ? "He was pretty good he drops new beats like fabolous & clipse" also during 3MC's 1DJ he was on fire at the end his hands were moving so fast i even recorded it but sadly without volume:( but it was some dope scratching from MMM

There wasn't much of a market. I ended up chucking my extra ticket too. I got about 5 pms here asking about it when I advertised, but nobody wanted to pay, I guess.

So, yeah, I paid $120 for one ticket! Would've paid 3 times that though. It's the bboys!

This is completely inaccurate. Jenny and I are hurt to read this. We did not beg anyone for anything. The truth is we were offered the wristbands by a very kind person and never explained to pshabi or anyone else how they came in our possession.

I popped on here quick just to say we had fun at the show. Raz and her mom, Mris, and Oneilljew were all cool to hang out with at the rail. We'll post photos, video, etc. from the show later. We've got fun shit to do in Vegas -- like take Paulb to a strip club.

If anyone on the board needs tickets to the Tuesday LA gig, Jenny and I have two extra tickets. We will only sell them to DIEHARD fans. PM Pooty, who will get a message to us. Pshabi, don't bother asking.
Wow! Just Wow! I asked you how you (you meaning everyone) got them and you said you asked some guy. I said I had been by the skate bowl begging for a wristband and Michelle (is that her name?) said that you had gotten them hours ago, implying that it was in the same vein as what I had been doing. You weren't even a part of that conversation and I obviously misunderstood. Apparently, her goal was to "mislead" me so I wouldn't know about your connection and she did a good job of that. Now I get slammed? I'm not trying to fabricate or make anyone look bad with that statement and you're blowing it out of proportion. Who cares anyway? Did I hurt you in some way? I'm not sure why you're coming here with this, "I don't like you anymore attitude." I'm 29 years old, and this type of beef and drama is a little bit much for me. Sheesh!.

I'm not sure what your problem is but an attitude like this one really isn't really what I'm looking for in hanging out with DIE HARDS. Again, I said I enjoyed the show with you and I'm not sure why you're choosing to start drama over this.

Edited to add: You know what, I'm really upset at the fact that you came in here and straight up tried to make me look bad on the board. I was nice to you all night, behaved as a gentleman and was very polite, like I am with everyone, but especially females. I thanked you for a great night at the end of the night and made it a point to tell you all it was very nice to meet you before I left. Even when you were basically ready to leave without even saying good bye. That's what's hurtful.

Maybe it would've been a little more becoming of you to talk to me behind the scenes in PM, on the phone, or even tomorrow when I came to the show. But instead, you just slam me w/o warning on the board. Thanks.

You did not meet me until just before the show started. It was a head-nod hello. We did not talk to one another until after the show, as we were too far from one another to hear.

No one asked me where I got my wristband. I don't know who Michelle is.

It's not cool to say people begged for something -- even if they did beg, which we definitely did not.

"You" meaning the entire group, not you directly, as I stated above.

The girl who I stood next to the whole night, between me and Jenny. I asked if her name was Michelle earlier in the thread, cause I couldn't remember what it was. You guys were "mysterious" about how you got the hook up and I got misled. Now, I'm accused of trying to make things up?

Seriously, I asked how you guys got the wristband and I was told, "We asked some guy." I said, I had been begging down by the skate pool and she said, "oh, well, we were asking hours ago." So, I assumed you went the same route I did. Tell me you can't see how I could get misled. It was tongue-in-cheek anyway and wasn't meant to tarnish your rep.

The funny thing is, the wristband thing isn't even an issue. People who had wristbands could get in the show early through the VIP entrance. Those who were ticketed had to wait 'til 7pm when the "doors" opened. So, when I got through the gates first, Mir, Jenny, and "Michelle" were already waiting at the rail. I was there for 3 hours before the gates opened to the gig, and was nervous about not being able to get the rail. It was actually easy, but you know how you get anxious for the show. I was trying to work some magic and tried husslin' for a wristband to get in early. I even tried to make one of my own to no avail.:D I'ma hussle, I'ma I'ma hussle homie!

Anyway, when I told the "Michelle" girl (what was her name anyway?) about my scammin' ways, she kind of played it off like that's how they got theirs and I posted ONE SENTENCE about it this morning. It wasn't even a big deal!

Apparently, it was to Miramanee, because she wants to be mysterious but still wants people to know she's got the hook up. "Begging" apparently isn't her style and I offended her. Either way, I'm just going to enjoy the show tomorrow and forget this even happened. I really never thought people could enjoy the bboys as much as I did and then I got really excited to hang with people who actually do. Then, 24 hours later, it turns into a drama fest, which is so far from my stylee it isn't even funny.

At first, I was pissed, but now I'm just more in disbelief that I'm getting played out like this.

I'm just going to go play some NBA Live and get ready for work tomorrow, which is going to be god damned difficult because I'm gonna be thinking about the bboys all day. Hopefully, my peacemaking meeting with PaulB doesn't get cancelled due to the drama.

Just a bit of history on the knee brace...I remember Yauch was sporting the knee brace way back on the Quadrophonic tour in 1995.

I realize that this post has quite abit of un-needed hostility between bboys fans already, but I would like to defend and take some credit for starting the mosh pit front and centre (I was in a red baseball hat), and I wasn't drunk or hurting people I just started jumping into my friends and then these dudes I didn't know started getting into it too, rather than just standing there and bobbing their heads. I think it was great that some people actually showed some participation and appreciation for the music more than just waving their hands and tapping their feet. So thank you to all who participated and pumped that closing song OUT! i am sure it was more fun for Adrock, MCA and Mike D to play to a rowdy crowd than a dead one too. I don't get why someone would just stand around while their favorite Boys ROCKED OUT. Adrock would've been moshing if he was in the crowd! He was jumping around with a guitar for chrissake. C'mon now, it's not like they were playing some straight up Rap song, which I wouldn't mosh to, they were playing sabotage, the most rockinest of the rocking. PLUS, they used to be a hardcore band, cmon now tell me punks don't fuck shit up, it's in their blood.

Your location says Melbourne, were you at this show? If so, are you the dude in the DVD wearing the VB shirt during MixMaster's intro.

MAte, I wish I was the guy on the DVD, naw but I did go to the melbourne show wearing a bright yellow track suit, bboys hat and shirt! I did do a shout out at the festival hall show which was played during the show SOOOO tight, but I didn't make the dvd, sigh. But I had fun at the etnies show for sure!

too bad about the attitude about moshing, fucking Aussies right! HAHA[/QUOTE]
Moshing was cool 11 years ago in the Pearl Jam video. As of right now, the bboys have even knocked and mocked the moshers and the crowd surfers at shows. It's an old fad and it really doesn't have a place at the bboys show, IMO.
