I had to stop by the office today because I need to give a performance feedback to one of my troops (who is on shift work). It normally wouldn't be a problem but, the kid is a dirt bag. He's one of those guys who is super smart but kinda chooses to be crap... anyway, I'm not really looking forward to this:(

I have to go to work in 30 seconds. the girl I work with on sundays is really boring, and I'm boring at work, so the day seems really really long because there's hardly any talking.
ah crap, but the marathon is going on today! we might be busy with tourists and the families of runners. grr.

ah cripe! I'm at work now and the stinkin marathon actually goes down the street I work on! I had to walk my bike on the sidewalk (it's illegal to ride on the sidewalk and there are tons of cops around) and I was late because of it. the street's all blocked off and there's an army of streets and sanitation people and vehicles clearing everything in their path.
it might be kind of cool to see though. and turns out I'm the only one working today the other girl called off. hopefully we aren't busy.
I work at a frame shop/art gallery. too bad we don't have more chicago-themed gift items. just a few magnets, prints, and post cards. ah well, the real business is framing the runners' medals and certificates in the months after the race.

ha ha, the note from my manager says:
"you are working alone today...[coworker] called and asked for the day off. You should be okay...if not, just run away."
GAH, some retards just tried to bash the front door in. HELLO, WE OPEN AT 12 AND IT'S 11:30! assholes.

Actually it went smoother than I thought it would. I've never had to give such a horrible feedback so I was pretty nervous because that's not the type of thing I like to do (I found out). Once I started though, it was pretty easy. I asked him how he thought he was doing and of course he said he was doing great but the documentation was solid and couldn't really be argued against so basically I had to let him know that he was doing a horrible job but I was still able to end it on a lighter note, so I'm happy about that. I basically told him though that if I were to write his performance report at that moment, he'd be getting a high 2 or a low 3.

Of course, after he told me what he thought he deserved we went over his feedback and I detailed pretty much everything he's done to fuck up since he's belonged to me and what I expect from him. He actually seemed shocked at first and then he got this look on his face like "man... he's right" so I'm hoping I got through or it isn't looking great for the kid.
ps. I didn't punch him but I did trip him on the way out and told him to have a nice fall.
