Let's see how accurately you BBMB-ers can predict the upcoming races.

CANCELS ELECTIONS due to Osama Bin Laden sighting. Osama is more important than silly elections.

I voted for Dem. Congress, Rep. Senate. I hope it's both for the Dems, but I'm bein' cautious here.

I don't have too much faith in Americans after the last two elections...but perhaps the Democrats will take one back.

I would like the Dems to win back either the house or senate so the hearings can begin.
Hearings are a healthy thing for checks and balance unless you abuse the power to find out where the president is putting his penis.

NO. WAY. CANCELED ELECTIONS.
Actually I was kinda drunk. And I'm still completely up in the air for who I think will win. So that's why I picked what I did.

First of all....it's "House," not "Congress."
Congress refers to both the House and Senate together.
Secondly, all signs point to a Democratic takeover of the House (hope Nancy Pelosi & John Conyers, etc., et al., know what the hell they're doing   ) and Republicans barely squeaking out the Senate (assuming Republican hold-ons to Tennessee & Virginia).
Could swing a bit either way still, of course, with the election still 2 weeks out, but it's unlikely an October (or November) surprise can really make a whit's worth of difference at this point.

For a political party to control ALL three branches of government, you know that's a recipe for disaster? Good government (whether it's a Republican or a Democrat in the White House) relies on a balance of power within all three branches.
Otherwise, it just turns into a (not so) benovolent dictatorship rife with corruption.

Disagree with you there, DS.
The Executive (President), Legislative (House & Senate), and the Judicial (which is NON-PARTISAN) are not necessarily trouble when they are controlled by the same party....
If you think so, look at the way the Demos ran the country when FDR was Prez : Social Security, Works programs, high taxes on the rich, etc., et al.
Now, while I think those were terrible ideas, poorly implemented and unwisely executed, I'd think that you, and the vast majority of posters on this site, would be doing handstands and throwing parties to have the three branches of the Federal government all in Demo hands so those ideas could be furthered and expanded, just like they were until 1994, when the Republicans finally wrested control of the House from the Demos.
IF we had a Judicial branch that only looked at laws for their constitutionality, instead of being activist and writing laws unconstitutionally, we'd be much better off....but that's a whole different debate.
I stand by my prediction : Demo House, Republican Senate. No impeachment. Partial draw-down of U.S. forces in Iraq in Spring '07. Republicans will regain House and keep Presidency in '08.
