I came across a bunch of high school kids in the midst of an amazing battle!

They had crafted their weapons (long swords and quarter staffs) in woodshop and then covered them in thick foam padding. They were really beating the poop out of each other. It was so awesome and nerdy I just had to sit and watch in awe.

great!!!! I watched Rocky 2 in awe today. At the end when he says 'YO Adrian.....I did it!' and she says ' I love you!' my eyes filled up with tears....that bit always gets to me

I used to think my baton was my Shera Princess Of Power Sword back in the day.

In fact, I actually smacked some girl in the head with it one day because she was picking on one of my friends.

Aww man, stick wars was the shit when I was a kid. I once broke my wrist and had to wear a cast and we had a stick battle. Some kid took a swing at me with a stick and I blocked it with my cast and it broke his stick. That kid was like, "awww shit" and took off running.

That part always gets me as well.

I need to get all of the Rocky movies on DVD. I have them on VHS but when the hell am I ever gonna watch a movie on my VCR?

yeah,I got them all together on DVD for £29.99 from Virgin Megastore the other day,including free bonus disc of stuff

back in my hometown of Bellingham, Wa. they actually have a "boffering" (battles with foam covered weapons) club/league type thing where they fight every weekend in this park near my house...

We had a big Halloween themed event at my job this weekend, and they arranged for a bunch of guys who dress up as stormtroopers to come in and mingle with the crowd. Most of the guys looked like, well, like the kind of guys who would own their own stormtrooper costume. But once they were suited up, I couldn't help but think they were kinda hot. It was very confusing...and a new low for me, I think.

when i was a kid I saw this type of battle at a Renaissance Fair. I thought it was so cool that when I went home my little brother and I built "swords" out of PVC pipe and carpet padding and then covered it all up in duct tape. then beat each other with them. it was immense fun and it hurt really really badly.

At Tasmania university there is a club that you can join that organises pitched battles like that.

It would be cool if nobody was watching me.

were they LARPers? (Live Action Role Player-ers)my friend is a LARPer but won't let me go along and watch their swords and sorcery guff, because I most likely laugh myself to death.
