Miramanee, Jennygirl, and Documad are holding down the front of the line. Doors opening in about a 1/2 hour. They're not letting cameras in so they'll probably just snap a few crappy camera-phone pics.

Just got home from the show... How freaking awesome is it to see them in a venue like the Fonda? It was cool to hear some of the stuff they rarely chose to play that I have never seen live, like No Sleep Till Brooklyn. Also, let's not forget they rocked the orange jump suits... hell yeah! My only problem was that being so close to the front, I could hear their between song banter all that well for some reason. What I could make out was funny stuff... Adam was put in the corner, that's all I got to say;-)
Now, That drunk girl who did the Slayer song? Oh man, some people are just bad at being drunk. Her and tall drunk guy were near me, and were just way, WAYYYYYYYY drunk and out of control, and could have easily ruined the night for me ( aside from spilling beer on me twice ), but they moved away from me before the show started, but I understand that he caused some trouble early on.
That aside, that was a great show! Second shortest setlist I have seen them perform, but it was great regardless. Plus, I found someone on the boards here who didn't have a ticket and got her in. It was my fourth Beasties show, but her first... and what a great first show, right? :D
...And does anyone have the full setlist yet?

few pics from
ian's flickr album (http://www.flickr.com/photos/iancrogers/tags/beastieboys/)There is one photo (http://www.flickr.com/photos/iancrogers/38372429/) with Mike D. at a restaurant and I have to wonder if the women to his left have any idea that he is who he is. :p
Also, I don't think Yauch is getting a belly (reference to a post above). They looked so trim at Gimme Shelter. Look at the photos from one of the California shows (where they're wearing suits and sitting on stools). It doesn't look like there are any spare tires anywhere. (If you have fat there, it's kind of hard to hide that while sitting on a stool and while wearing a tailored shirt that's tucked in.) I think most guys their age start to pick up weight at the waistline so it's good that they're not going that route.
Mike D. has gotten criticism for looking like he's aged, which he has, but I don't think it's as pronounced as it appears to be in some of his photos. After seeing him at Gimme Shelter and seeing him close enough to watch him sweat, I have to say that he sometimes maybe photographs poorly because he looks good in person. Horovitz and Yauch seem to photograph accurately (although sometimes I think Yauch, in photos, is wearing quirky expressions but I think it's that the photographer caught him as he was playing around with the gum in his mouth).
I love Mike's hair. The combination of all of it and the suit: bizarre :) and I love the skinny ties.

haha i thought you said you loved his skinny toes or something, but i agree with all that about what you said, but i don't think mike looks like he's aged a whole lot (and i haven't even seen him in person! oh my.) he just looks so (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y203/utlonghorngrl21/beastie%20boys/LakeForest%20and%20vegas/BBLA-LasVegasOct2006004.jpg) damn (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y203/utlonghorngrl21/beastie%20boys/LakeForest%20and%20vegas/BBLA-LasVegasOct2006032.jpg) attractive (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y203/utlonghorngrl21/beastie%20boys/LakeForest%20and%20vegas/BBLA-LasVegasOct2006089.jpg) in (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y203/utlonghorngrl21/beastie%20boys/LakeForest%20and%20vegas/BBLA-LasVegasOct2006106.jpg) every (http://static.flickr.com/107/277416942_f4f18bf004.jpg?v=0) single (http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/1593/beztytuuzu4.jpg) photo (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v260/paulbonardelli/204_0407.jpg) i've seen!

I don't think Mike looks bad in his photos either but people during the pageant tour especially seemed to knock him for having aged. I didn't see it then--I don't see it now. I think he looks better in person than he does in his photos. Weird how the camera favors some people and not others. About Mike, I think it's just that he's really fit and sometimes when you get older, low body fat can look harsh at a glance.
Seeing them in person was cool because I got to see the Yauch effect, where he sort of mills around on stage and just seems to do whatever occurs to him at any given moment. I'd read about that but it was fun to see it.
Horovitz moves around quite a bit on stage. He seems to be in perpetual motion.
Mike seems relatively serious onstage, more so than I would have guessed him to be.
As long as we're talking about physique: MMM seems thinner in person than he does in photos and videos and as long as we're talking about MMM, I dislike it when he makes hip-hop face; he looks so much more attractive when he lets his expression go au naturel. MMM seems intense.
I think at the Hiro, we were much, much closer to the stage than the fans were at the California shows. I wonder if anyone who was at both sets of shows vouch for that.
Also, at the Hiro, the stage was much lower so it felt like we were standing right next to them. It truly didn't feel like there even was a stage. The stage moat (whatever that's called) wasn't very deep--it wasn't much of a formidable barrier. (Actually, it sort of didn't exist at the Hiro. They'd force a little passageway when necessary, but it was easy to just reach out and touch them at will and they were able to sort of effortlessly reach out and touch people in the front rows.)

Hot Damn!
That was a smoking show. I'm still processing and incredibly drained.....
I got to meet the two lovely travelling ladies at the front of the line when I arrived ;)
The karaoke thing was a bit much imho. The first person to perform was an incredibly wasted woman who did slayer.....she did it very well, but it was the longest song I have ever heard. I can only take so much of someone essentially growling into a mic. Apparently, she was going up to people on the floor before she performed and made those same kind of noises. Eventually her and her friend with the blue shirt and mowhawk got themselves kicked out of the floor (and likely the venue). I liked the Kung Foo Fighting and the two guys that did Rat Pack songs. Good stuff there! For some reason, it felt like every song done was an extended version though.
My friend didn't bring the clothes she thought she did, so we ended up in the front row of the balcony since she had to wear flip flops. It was perfect...we had so much dancing space and rocked out hard. Alot of people in the balcony sat though. :(
I wish I could remember what song, but there was a classic moment when the crowd fucked up the timing on the lyrics and Adrock said something like, "I can't believe you're messing this up, nobody has ever messed this up". He then tried it one last time and most of us were able to rectify the situation.

I only had a ticket to the Vegas show, but Miramanee and Jenny offered me an extra ticket to the LA show and they let me tag along on so I wound up taking an incredible detour. I couldn't get over the Vegas show or just being in LA waiting in the sun on Hollywood Blvd., for the second club show in two days. During the two shows, we heard a lot of great songs.
A few things that struck me about the Hollywood show: Other than a little drama in the pit at the beginning of the show, I thought the crowd was great. The stage patter was funny (as usual). There were a few minor mistakes which caused everyone to crack up and I love that about live shows.
One thing that simply must be acknowledged is Mike D. They all looked great. They all were funny. They all were on the whole time. But Mike has taken it to a new level. In Vegas, in the suit and shades, his dancing took on a smooth quality. In Hollywood, he was bouncing all over the place and I had what I had been hoping for -- the return of Mike's special dance, which ended with him on the floor. I still think that the secret to his energy is his new hair. :p
I realized this morning that the Hollywood show was the first time I've truly enjoyed hearing Sabotage in a long time. Usually the pit goes crazy when that song starts and I spend my time looking at security guards' stomaches or just trying to remain upright. With the crowd being more respectful, I could actually pay attention to the band and their performance of the song is stronger than I remembered.
I'm not used to seeing VIPs at concerts. So let me be a tourist and say that I saw Tommy Lee, shirtless, having a great time at the side of the stage. That's the one thing that my friends at home will be impressed by. :p
I thought her karaoke was fabulous but she turned out to be the classic drunk bitch who thinks she can abuse other people and get away with it because she's a woman. She intentionally assaulted me several times and she hit some much smaller women who were near me. The big guy you mentioned was removed by security at the close of the first Beasties' song. That's when the Beasties stopped and looked concerned and Adrock gave the speech. The bitch and her other friends were thrown out after a couple more songs and that's when all the trouble in the pit stopped. (I complimented the guy who seemed to be in charge of security at the end of the night -- from start to finish the way they handled the line, entry, and the pit was impressive.)

I would have liked to have heard more from TT5B but I'm probably in the minority on that. One thing that was nice about the Australian concerts was that the fans there seemed to know and like the new album.

While people were waiting in line, I walked past and dined and the resturant nextstore where the staff got our tickets and let us in ahead of most of the people. You can usually get in front of the line if you really need to be up front. There is your tip for the Fonda theatre.

the slayer girl was ok she was a little too crazy though i had a funny conversation with her next to the stage.
Also some chick who was next to me with her boyfriend (ithink) with the hello nasty t-shirt were good people too.
Mike D kept on looking at me! during sabrosa i was looking at alfredo & then i looked at Mike & he was starring back at me then he moved his eyes & made it even more akward:p
Kathleen is beautiful! i noticed her to the side of the stage talking to a woman, she is really pretty in person
the crowd only pushed a couple of times & i had to hold on to the barricades (yes front-row thanks to jennygirl & mirmaree!(y) )

so the security noticed the comotion & kinda grabbed the guy & the boys' song ended so AdRock came to that section of the stage & kinda gave a lecture to the rowdy people there & i think the guy got kicked out
i did *blushes* :o um a Run DMC song & sucked very badly at it but i did get props from some people afterwards but still it was no slayer girl
the b-boys were wearing the Quasar orange jumpsuites & adrock with a knicks hat too top it off
moneymark came out & video-taped the slayer girl & adrock came out & was watching the bizarre performance from the back

I guess you don't know what happened because you were on stage. It was during your song that Slayer girl and her friend started up. It took a while for security to respond because it was during the karaoke and who expected trouble during karaoke? I sure wasn't. :p Mohawk guy got more than a lecture from Adrock -- he was removed by security right then and there. Slayer girl was removed for the same reason a couple of songs later. What a waste! But lucky for the rest of us in front of her. The audience was great after they left.

That aside, that was a great show! Second shortest setlist I have seen them perform, but it was great regardless. Plus, I found someone on the boards here who didn't have a ticket and got her in. It was my fourth Beasties show, but her first... and what a great first show, right? :D

Walk this way - love it! (y)
hmm no bboys songs?
the rule was no b-boys songs
the slayer girl told me that she asked the karaoke guys if she could to brass monkey & they said no
on a sad note i lost my cell-phone at the counter where they were selling b-boy merch....it had awesome pics too like MoneyMark up in the air during his usually Sabotage mosh:p
i did get a license to ill hoodie & a black shirt with the TT5B Beastie Boys logo & outside these guys were selling a b-boy shirt with them smoking weed (lol) & it only had 2 tour dates in the back "Las Vegas & Los Angeles 2006":p i

The audience was great after they left.
oh i was looking at Jennygirl most of the time :D

Quasar played a few shows in Jan. of '97, IC came out in '94 and the tour started in the summer of '94.
The orange jumpsuits were around for a while before Quasar.
They weren't in the jumpsuits that early.

The audience's ignorance also extended to not being able to correctly identify a Beastie Boy. During the karaoke set, Mike and Tamra came out and watched part of it from the side of the stage. A dude standing behind me said to his buddies, "Look! There's Adrock."

I gave Money Mark a shit-eating grin. No need for small talk...just a grin and nod.
I can't believe that drunk Slayer girl did so much damage on the floor. I suppose I'm relieved that my friend in flip flops and I rode the rail on the balcony. Slayer girl had to constantly pull down her shirt because she knew her fat tires were bulging out. Fat chicks in tight clothes ... WTF? I just don't get it.
Before the show started we were doing the wave on the balcony. It was fun.
It was a strange mix. I was so freaking pumped for the show to start when the people behind me start going OFF about the upcoming Dave Matthews/Tim Reynolds show at the SB Bowl this weekend. I turned around and shared in some excitement since I have tix, but "enlightened" them that the B-Boys will be throwing down a much better show. I had the feeling that many of the people behind me would have sat if I wasn't up dancing and blocking their view.

if the beastie boys hadn’t finally come out, you’d think it was the slayer girl show with her annoying growling and rumbling of innocent people. i was standing right behind sunny bak when she got into the crowd. she was worried about slayer girl and co. getting too crazy. sunny said something about not being able to feel anything from the waist-down and really worried that if they kicked her spine she’d be paralyzed…serious!!!
i offered to protect her from them with my body even if I was smaller than her-anything for the beastie boys’ official photographer! slayer girl pushed into me and spilled beer on me several times before she got kicked out. (i should of moved but i was front and center and wasn’t budging!) i’d tell her to watch out and she would apologize…so no hard feelings. she even gave me a hug. WTF??? she crazy.
BUT she and her sister were brutal to a couple of girls at the rail. i agree they were absolutely assaulted…ghetto style!
despite the drama and having to go by myself it was an AWWWESOME show!!! still cant’t believe how tiny the stage was and how close we were to them (close enough to see their wrinkles!) :p :p :p

Slayer Girl and her friends only made me wish the vulcan neck pinch really worked.
Also, I was the guy in the Black Flag t-shirt... I hope I didn't step on too many people's feet when I was jumping up and down.
Also, ran into my coworkers who were at the show... one of whom snuck in her camera... she will not be able to get her pics to me for a few days due to computer issues, but I have seen them... good stuff!

Anyway, I just want to say hey, give the brave folks who did the karaoke a break....sadly, I was the girl who did 'baby got back'...a while maybe it didn't sound professional, hell that was a once in a lifetime chance to "open" for the boys and sometimes you gotta say WTF mate! :)

It has been difficult getting my brain around it, but the more I think about it, the more I am certain that the Hollywood show was my personal favorite of the three I saw this year. It's like trying to decide whether I prefer creme brulee to molton chocolate cake or lemon tart. :p
I think that with the setlist, the two sets with instruments, the enjoyment level of the people immediately around me during the show, the smallness of the stage, lots of little moments, and either better sound or quieter crowd so I could hear all the on stage talking, I got the most out of the Hollywood show. A lot of that was because of where my head was at the time and what a good and strange day had preceded it. I can't thank M and Jennygirl enough for making it happen. I know we've been posting here for a while, but they were basically helping a stranger out of the goodness of their hearts. And to think that I didn't plan on going untiil 18 hours beforehand!
I've been so lucky to see seven shows in the last two years -- five of them at small venues. Holy shit.
I have to say that it's going to be difficult to face the set of regular old concerts I'm going to this weekend.

It sucks when you really want to enjoy a show but your attention is diverted to a couple of inbreds who are ruining the show for you and those around you.
Don't be such a prick.I thought that Gimme Shelter would have a moshing, drunk crowd. I was completely prepared to leave if that wound up being the case. I was relieved to see that everyone was civil. In fact, people were unbelievably nice! At a point, this girl next to me (she looked so much like Penelope Cruz) made a pact with me to guard our spot (right in front on the right facing the stage) but not at the risk of hurting anyone or getting hurt. :) Several other times, this girl to my left who was about half my height and twice my width kept apologizing to me for stepping on and pushing into me. It was a consistently great crowd which is surprising all things considered.
I am so sorry that you had to deal with idiots at this show. Really, really sorry that some of you were bruised! Ouch. :(
The person who didn't know one Beastie from the other...that made me laugh a little because my one friend can never keep their names in order. For a long time, he called one of them TROY and after awhile, he gave up with the names and went, instead, with their instruments. "Is that the drummer or the bass player?" :D

I remember seeing the Beastie Boys at the Forum and these girls tapping my shoulder asking me "Is that Adrock?" I said "Just wait for a song or two, they introduce themselves all the time."
The girls seating behind me in the balcony at this weeks show kept yelling "Paul Revere!!!" Umm, you are in the balcony.
I didn't see all of the fighting up front. Just noticed the mohawk guy getting kicked out. I didn't realize Slayer girl went ape shit too.

Alrighty so the old dude that came out and sang "The Way You Look Tonight" a la Frank Sinatra stole my heart. I couldn't help but sing every single word along with him and he ended up singing directly at me. Awwwhhhh... so I blew him a kiss at the end of his song. I love going to chinatown here in LA to this place called Quon Bros. there's always old asian guys singing Frank songs downstairs that never cease to melt me, and to have that at a Bboy show was well......... SPECIAL.
Oh and for the record, ggirlballa rocked the hizzouse with her rendition of "Walk This Way". I did take a photo with my phone that I have to figure out how to get offa there for her. She's adorable by the way.
Oh and that bitch that sang the Slayer song I had mad respeckt for...until her skanky friend tapped me on the shoulder and creepily said with like an eyebrow raising motion "see where you are? I'm going to be there." I'z all.... "The fuck you are bitch" and that was pretty much the end of that. But that slayer shit was off the hook. Too bad they had to be such skanks. What is with people anyhow?!...
The boys wearing their Quasar get ups was such a trip. I really got the sense that they were in their element with all their friends backstage and just feelin comfortable. I only wish I could be part of that party posse... instead I'm all chillin on the sidewalk all day to be front row. I'll settle for that though. Ian and Zoe were just hangin with what I believe was their manager Jon Silva on the side of the stage.... OMG and yeah, ok so at the beginning of the show there were all these dead beats on the side of the stage. I had the feeling they were contest winners or whatever, they weren't givin it up really throughout the show. Outta the corner of my eye I caught some rocking from that side of the stage and I thought, oh finally they get it... but NO! Who do I spy rocking out just as hard and Miramanee and I?! OH man I should have clarified, I randomly found them on myspace. I shant take credit. Trust me, I was jumpin around like an idiot at the barricade. Filming was last on my 'to do' list.

Thanks for the videos, Jenny. I wondered if some would eventually surface.
The venue was serious about no cameras. Security confiscated them if they saw them. There was no way anyone near the rail could film with anything other than a cell phone. Even the pros were kicked out after the first few songs.
