It is fun to see how many of us are still active in the online beastie community. It is going on 12 years now for me. I didn't grow up "just having" the internet so I try not to take it for granted. The people who work on beastiemania.com with me are some of my dearest friends...and I get into contact with new beastie-friends each week through the site. Looking back I think the online community is stronger than ever, even though I don't do a lot with mp3s or the "hub" I think it is a cool concept. Perhaps the best thing to come out of the last year or so is the group of individuals who do the beastie remix sites.

I remember getting my family getting our first computer June 1994 about a week after Ill Communication came out...we joined Prodigy and I immediately found the Beastie Boys message board on there and created my screenname: beastieboys1 for the chat rooms (were they would charge)..a year or so later we started using AOL and I was always on there boards. There was some guy on Prodigy named Sal Governale that was really into them but older than half of the people on the board, I think he's a comedian now in NYC. He gave out most of his memorabilia during the success of Sabotage and declared he was no longer a fan. Hahahah...remember the nando.net days? Or when the webpage that said the Beastie Boys were recording in a submarine. I remember getting so pissed in '95 when I could never get through to get tickets by phone for the Fairfax, VA show. I first saw them live in '92 and once again in 2004. So I guess it's 12 years for me in the online world too and 19 years as a fan.

thats awesome...i was a bit behind on actually owning a legit computer..i remember going to the computer lab in college and checking the listserv..id spend hours there..til the wee morning...what a dork i was...thankfully i got outta that stage..haha..

i remember when i finally had my own desktop 2nd semester 1st year of college...i would always be online..chatting to fellow beastie ppl...i remember trivia contests...anyone else?

now that im old, i cant spend as much time as id like to devoted to all things beastie, but its always in my heart...
