Attention Beastie Nation:

I am a (somewhat) regular threader on this Message Board which I consider to be both a privilege and an honor. For the most part, the members of Beastie Nation are well-informed, detail-oriented, and a bit obsessed (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing). So for my next question I am calling on the best-of-the-best. You may need to hit the streets, revisit your mental rolodexes, or even, dare I say it? Go to the library and bust out the microfiche.

Here goes:

Have the Beastie Boys ever played a show in Pittsburgh, PA?

On July, 30, 1994 they played Lollapalooza at the Starlake Amphitheatre in Burgettstown, PA (which is a good 45-minute drive outside of Pittsburgh, not counting traffic), and on April 10, 2001 BS2000 came to town (which we all know is two Beastie Boys short of the Beastie Boys, no diss to Fredo or A.W.O.L.).

I ask this question, because many loyal Beastie Boys fans have come out of Pittsburgh, including key contributors to Beastiemania, keepers of the Beastie Bootleg Library, and members of this very Message Board. Since the Beastie Boys seem to have found an affinity for playing live shows again, I hereby request that they perform in Pittsburgh, PA (for quite possibly the first time).

As a Message Board courtesy, I’m asking all members to refrain from asking the Beastie Boys to visit their respective small-market cities, until they perform in Pittsburgh first.

If anyone has an answer to my query I will be much obliged.

In a few months at the latest, I hope to be able to bump this thread and say, "Yes, they performed in Pittsburgh x weeks ago at Mr. Small's Theater." But I doubt that that'll happen because I hear that the entertainment tax here is prohibitively high.

If they do come here, it'll probably be after I've moved. :)
