i dont know about your area but you are not considered a real dj if you use cd players. my nanna could dj with cd players. go the turntables. its a lot of fun collecting vinyl, as they are something special these days. it depends on what sort of music u will want to play, cds are obviously more common and accesible, but dj'ing with vinyl is a hell lot more fun, when u can beat juggle scratch etc etc. go the turntables! then send em to me, cuz i need some!

id definately recommend turntables, no question there. and if you (or who ever is buying them) is willing to spend about $1000 on cd turntables i would HIGHLY recommend getting yourself two Numark TT200 turntables

and then whatever other mixer you want, maybe any of these here

Vestax VMC-002XL

Stanton SA.3

Ecler Nuo2 (little more expensive, but much better)

THEN you need needles of course

these will be fine in the beginning, no need to spend too much yet

turntablelab.com is a great website to check stuff out at, good selection and plenty of reviews. hope this helped a bit. and with the money you save (being cheaper than the cd "turntables") you can buy some extra vinyl!

Forget that CD player noise for the time being... especially those shitty looking CD turntable things.

The shit people are getting from using CD turntables is slowly fading away... but it's still there a little bit. Most people in the community say that true heads are still sportin' vinyl and being a strictly record-based business. Then there's some other cats who are mostly vinyl but you'll catch 'em screwing around with a CD turntable or Serato every once in a while... that seems to be okay as long as you know your ish already.

Final answer? Get the turntables. Learn it the way everyone else did and later on if you feel like you want those CD decks... pick 'em up once you've got the feel for vinyl and how it all works.

I say get the turntable. It's more respected and even if you don't want to be a DJ collecting records is still pretty fun.

hmmm, having dj'ed for 10 years I can assure you this brand is not gonna hold out for you.

If you plan on spinning/turntablism...do not get anything other than a technics 1200 or a vestax...look on ebay for cheaper models

for cd turntables, it's a bit more open and quite pricey...I'm looking at the Gemini
cdj02 or icdj, not as tight as the technics or denon cd players but quite affordable and solid looking for a Gemini product

look around still.....you can get 2 cd players and a mixer for much cheaper than that package (leaving you some $$ for sound equipment)

I guarantee the turntables won't last you half a year if your serious about it

collecting vinyl tends to be a waste of money. i have a ton of records that collect dust simply because listening to them is inconvienent.
