I went to the August show in Chi-town. Unfortunately, beastiemania doesn't have a setlist:( .

Money Mark and ATCQ opened. I remember them opening with Alright Hear This. They also played Shadrach and Negotiation Limerick File that night.

The "instrumentation" set(s) included:

Remote Control
Song for the Man
Heart Attack Man
Tough Guy
Egg Raid on Mojo
Ahhhhhh B.E.A.S.T.I.E go!
Time For Livin'

lots of cool shit

I'm 99.9% sure Laver was there, so he can correct any mistakes I may have made and add what he sees fit.

Disappointments included no "Get it Together" in the encore. I heard some roadies talking outside the venue afterward and they said it was on the setlist, but ATCQ left early.

Also, the sound in the venue was horrible and it was really hard to hear what they were saying.

The In the Round concept was just amazing; however I think the pageant shows were better. I liked having more hip hop in the shows and I think the chemistry w/ MMM was better. That was right at the beginning of their "relationship" back then.

I think the Lake Forest show was as good as the pageant shows and the Vegas show was the best show yet out of the 6 I've been to. Better with age!

*raises hand* oooo oooo me I did!

I went to the Sept 11 1998 show at the Forum in Los Angeles! My 1st Beastie Boys show. Yep.

I was at the same show and this was also my first Beastie Boys show! It's mostly a blur of being in a state of awe but I do remember Mike D talking about the basketball posters on the wall in the hall of the forum between songs. I don't remember what he said word for word, but he joked around about how it appeared in one of the posters someone was touching Kareem Abdul Jabar* on the buttocks while attempting a block or something. haha Oh and for some reason I distinctly remember in Shake Your Rump, the lyric changed to "chillin' at the beach down IN LA." You know, since LA made it feel more personalized for us westcoasters. Ahh that was such a magical experience seeing them live finally for the first time. Since then I've seen them three other times; Coachella, and then again in LA in 04 and the following day in Long Beach, CA. I saw Yauch at a live taping of The Carson Daily Show and swear to have made eye contact with him since I was front and center, maybe 15 feet away from him. Then less than two months ago I had the wise idea to move out of CA to spend some time in the midwest where all my extended family lives. So yeah, I'm just a tad bitter about the timing of the recent smaller venue shows which happened less than an hour from my old home. If only they'd play a small gig somewhere around Chicago while I'm here. With my luck, they'll do so right after I move back to CA. Anyway, sorry for going off topic there folks. :D

I went to Stockholm in 1999 (http://www.beastiemania.com/gigog/show.php?g=19990424), front row up against the rail.

Beastiemania is showing my ticket. And I would have one of those setlist if it wasn't for an evil security guard.

I went to the show in Stockholm in 1999.
Before the gig I went around the venue, said hi to MMM when he came out the backdoor, but didn't realise to ask for autographs... Then I took some photos of the neonsign announcing the gig and bumbed into someone else from the crew doing the same.

At the gig I was near there were they ran to the stage and Yauch high-fived me on the run, can't remember anything else from the rest....

After the gig I went to the hotel bar to enjoy a drink (sometimes people from the bands or the crew do the same) and Swedish soul singer Eric Gadd was there and we exchanged a few words at the bar, he wasn't that impressed by the instrumentals. I suspect he thought I didn't know who he was because of my accent (but my sister's a huge fan) and me telling I'd seen the Boys around Europe a couple of times.

Yep...I was at the Milwaukee and Chicago 98 shows. I didn't have floor tickets for either which sucks.

I agree with everything you said before.

Personally I think the In The Round concept looks good on paper, but just doesn't translate well in reality, for a Beastie show.

The HN tour was also Alfredo's first time working with the band. They had Walter Miranda on keyboards since $Mark was the opening act.

They were rockin' the jumpsuits on that tour which was cool. And I agree with Pshabi about the MMM comments. He was new, and I had to get used to the idea of him switching everything up. Now, it brings the performance to a completely different level.

Walter Miranda???

I saw them in Barrie Ont., Money Mark opened and played with them.

Unfortuneatly Phife had a tummy ache, so Tribe was a no show. But Biz filled their spot nicely.

I met Ricky Powell at that show too, he was so wasted. They had a 2nd stage and he did some stand up. He wasn't bad either.

Walter Miranda???

He's not listed on the Who's Who at Beastiemania. But I first met him when he was playing guitar with $Mark in 2002. $Mark was on a small hole-in-the-wall club tour with Alfredo on drums, and Walter on bass.

I'm not sure what he's up to these days though.

I'm looking at the set lists, which are mostly solid, but they dont look as good as the TT5B-era "Pageant" tour. It seems like they weren't as willing back then to go back to the Licensed To Ill-era stuff, which is what I loved about the latest tour. I was at the concert at the Garden where they made AIFST, and I was at the concert at the Nassau Colliseum where they opened up with No Sleep Till Brooklyn, and hearing them play that live was just fucking unbelievable.

I remember this was the first and last time I took acid before a concert, the statium had shit sound to begin with but this only compacted that.

By the end of the show when we started to sober up I recall me and my two friends being the only ones still standing up during an instramental in our section to have Adrock point us out moments later and give us our props.

They've removed the hardcore ingredient from their sets. Those songs are really short so you can slide 4 or 5 of those in pretty easily.

If there is anyone reading this who was at the Minneapolis show, I'd love to settle a debate with my friend. Is that the show where there was no opening act and the Beasties went on early? If so, who was the opening act, and why didn't they go on?

I think I missed a couple of Beasties' songs and I think it's because they started early. But I've been wrong before.

I saw them in DC at the Tibetan Freedom Concert. This was right before they went to Europe for the Glasgow show, etc. I wasn't feeling it as much as their last tour. MMM had just joined the band and they had a lot of kinks to work out. It was still dope, but comparitively, it wasn't as good as the other Beasties shows I've been to.

Perth Entertainment Centre. Feb 11, 1999. Right when whichever catastrophe that put the tour on hold was about to take place.

MMM opened with a big big big beat, cutting up the 'Yeah it's gonna be well wicked' sample, then did his Tom Sawyer thing. They opened with The Move, and it was real high energy. Then after Flute Loop the mics dropped out. They would phase in and out, but it was annoying. Even some of Mike D's cymbol mics weren't working during Something's Got to Give.

We didn't get Pass The Mic, but we got Skills. And MMM dropped the 'Yes you May' beat all over Puttin Shame in Your Game.

Not a bad show, just really disappointing audio fuck-ups. They were on point, performance-wise. I was impressed by the Hardcore.

I don't know if this show counts, though. The stage wasn't round.

No, they continued the tour about a month later. I am guessing it was either Mike D's or Mixmaster's family who had suffered a great loss. That was the word back then, anyway.

Rhyme And Reason was meant to happen and was cancelled in 2000. I'm talking about 1999. There's a gap between the Perth show, and the rest of the Australian dates. At the time, it was said to be a family emergency which postponed this leg of the tour. You're thinking of something else.
